Review: Blue Chair Bay Mocha Rum Cream

Blue Chair Bay Mocha Rum Cream was introduced September 2022.  Kenny Chesney launched the Blue Chair Bay brand of rum in 2013.  Mocha Rum Cream is one of six rum creams including Banana, Pineapple, Key Lime, Mango, and Coconut Spiced.  They also produce a white, spiced, coconut, banana, and vanilla rum.  The rum base is distilled in Barbados from molasses and aged for 1 year in white oak barrels.  In crafting Mocha Cream, the Caribbean rum is blended with real cream, chocolate, coconut, coffee, and other natural flavors. Review: Baileys S’mores

Baileys S’mores Irish Cream Liqueur was just released.  If you are unfamiliar with the campfire favorite of toasted marshmallow, and Hersheys Chocolate, sandwiched between two graham crackers I have to ask ” where do you live?”  While I have been waiting patiently for the North American release of Baileys Tiramisu, one of four Baileys flavors available in the UK but not in the US, Baileys surprised me with the release of Bailey’s S’mores.  This is one of 12 Baileys flavors currently available in the US so I shouldn’t be too sour about not getting to try Bailey Orange Truffle, Tiramisu, Chocolate Luxe, or Eton Mess, a blend of strawberry raspberry, meringue, and whipped cream.  But I suffer from a big case of FOMO.  Read more »

Review: El Padrino Chocolate Tequila Cream

El Padrino Chocolate Tequila Cream is one of three new tequila creams produced at Casa Maestri.  The others include Lime and Original Tequila Cream.  El Padrino may offer more tequilas variants than any other brand.  Their lineup also includes El Padrino Blanco, Reposado, Anejo, Extra Anejo, Cristalino, Tropical Mango, Spicy Cucumber, and Clementine.  They also produce 4 different El Padrino Mezcals.  The El Padrino tequila base is made from 100% blue agave grown on their hacienda in San Julian Jalisco Mexico.  Once trimmed the hearts are cut in half and steam roasted in centuries old traditional thick stone walled brick ovens for 36-54 hours.  Once cooled the pina’s are shredded releasing the sweet juice which is then fermented in wood vats.  A double distillation follows.  Natural flavors, cream liqueur, and caramel color is blended with the tequila base before bottling at 30 proof. Review: Carolans Cold Brew

Carolans Cold Brew was launched May 2021.  Carolans Original Irish Cream is the second best selling Irish Cream Liqueur brand.  Carolans Original was introduced in 1978, making it one of the oldest Irish Cream Liqueur brands.  What sets Carolans Original Irish Cream apart from the competition is the inclusion of naturally harvested honey and farm fresh cream.  This is the second line extension for Carolans.  Carolans Salted Caramel was released August 2019.  Carolans Cold Brew is a blend of Carolan Original with natural cold brew coffee and chocolate flavors. Review: Glencara Family Estate Irish Cream Liqueur

Glencara Family Estate Irish Cream Liqueur is not your typical Irish Cream liqueur.  First of all the the milk jug container makes it easy to find on the liquor store shelf.  Glencara is made with Irish grain neutral spirits, triple distilled single malt Irish Whiskey, double cream, and natural flavors.  Most Irish cream liqueurs are made with Irish grain neutral spirits, double distilled blended Irish Whiskey, and dairy cream.  Double cream is a dairy cream made with 48% butter cream.  Double cream can easily be found in the UK.  Good luck finding it in the US.  By comparison whipping cream contains 30% butter fat.  Heavy cream has 38%.  Glencara also weighs in with 18.4% alcohol.  Most including Baileys are bottled at 17% This premium Irish cream liqueur comes with a premium price.  It is produced by R.A. Merry & Co. in Tipperary Ireland. Read more »

Review: Trader Joe’s Cold Brew Coffee & Cream Liqueur

Trader Joe’s Cold Brew Coffee & Cream Liqueur is made for Trader Joe’s by Universal Brands in Princeton Minnesota.  Cold Brew coffee flavor has been popping up in a lot of spirits lately.  Jamesons blends it with their whiskey, Tia Maria with rum, and Carolans with Irish Cream, and whiskey.  TJ”S Cold Brew Coffee and Cream is made from a 100% neutral grain spirit base.  My first thought was there must be other brands of cold brew coffee and cream liqueur on the market today but the only one that comes to mind is Granita Cold Brew Coffee & Cream.  Mr. Black is a straight cold brew coffee liqueur and Starbucks discontinued Starbucks Coffee and Cream. Review: Jim Beam Bourbon Cream

Jim Beam Bourbon Cream was launched October 2021.  Beam is not the first bourbon cream on the market, and to be honest, with all of the flavored whiskies Jim Beam Bourbon makes, I’m a little surprised they took this long to produce a bourbon cream of their own.  It is made with a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey base.  The bourbon base is made from a secret mix of corn, rye, and barley malt.  The spirit is aged in brand new charred oak barrels.  Beam does not include an age statement for this bourbon or an ingredient list on the bottle.  Jim Beam Bourbon Cream also does not yet appear on their website or Facebook page.  Read more »

Review: Fennellys Tropical Colada Irish Cream Liqueur

Tropical Colada is one of ten Fennellys Irish Cream liqueurs sold at Total Wine and More stores throughout the US.  The others include Original, Apple Pie, Salted Caramel, Almond, Strawberry, Dreamy Light, Cappuccino, Peppermint, and Chocolate Mint.  Robert A Merry & Co. makes well over a dozen brands of Irish Cream liqueur including the Fennellys brand in Tipperary Ireland.  While it may seem unfair to call Fennellys a discount Baileys copy cat brand, Fennellys is less expensive than Baileys and nine of the ten Fennellys flavor varieties were already made by Baileys before Fennellys introduced theirs.
