Review: Malibu Watermelon

Malibu Watermelon was released April 2021.  It is one of ten varieties of Malibu Rum.  Malibu hopes to duplicate the success they enjoyed last year with the release of Malibu Strawberry Rum, and Malibu Splash.  Malibu Splash is a 5% alcohol sparkling malt beverage sold in 12 ounce cans.  These cans are sold in individual flavor 4 packs and 4 flavor 8 can variety packs.  Malibu Watermelon starts with a rum base made in Barbados at West Indies Distillery from molasses created with Caribbean cane sugar and pure water.  A proprietary yeast is used to ferment prior to distillation.  The rum is shipped to Canada where it is blended with watermelon liqueur and bottled at 42 proof.  Read more »

Review: Malibu Strawberry Rum

Malibu Strawberry joins a flavor lineup that already includes Original Malibu, Malibu Lime, Malibu Pineapple, Malibu Mango, Malibu Passion Fruit, Malibu Tropical Banana, Malibu Black, and Malibu Red.  Malibu Strawberry is not the first strawberry flavored rum on the market, we have already reviewed Cruzan Strawberry and Parrot Bay Strawberry.  It is also not Malibu’s first strawberry rum, they introduced Malibu Swirl Strawberries and Cream, May 2012, but later discontinued production.  As with all Malibu flavored rums they start with a rum base triple distilled at West Indies Distillery in Barbados.  The rum is made from molasses created with Caribbean cane sugar and pure water.  A proprietary yeast is used to ferment prior to distillation.  The rum is then shipped to Canada where it is blended with a Strawberry Liqueur and bottled at 42 proof. Review: Malibu Lime Rum

Malibu Lime Rum was just released.  This is not the first time Malibu has created a lime flavored rum.  A previous Malibu Lime was produced until 2003.  This is one of 15 rum varieties Malibu currently produces.  With lime being such a popular flavor to mix with rum, I’m a little surprised Malibu went 15 years without having a lime flavored rum.  But checking Bacardi Rums flavor lineup they don’t a lime flavored rum either.  The rum base for Malibu is made from molasses created from the finest sugar cane crops and pure water.  After fermenting with a proprietary yeast the spirit is distilled 3 times at the West Indies Distillery in Barbados.  The rum is barreled and shipped to Canada where lime liqueur is infused with the rum before bottling at 42 proof. Review: Malibu Peach Sparkler

Malibu peach sparkler - CopyMalibu Peach Sparkler was introduced February 2014 along with their Rum Sparkler.  It is made with Caribbean rum, coconut water, and natural peach and coconut flavor.  Carbonation is then infused before bottling at 22 proof.  Because of the carbonation this is a bottle that should be finished in one evening, or sealed with a wine stopper.  You are not getting that cork back in the bottle, I tried.
