Smirnoff Peach Lemonade Vodka was just released. This follows their successful release of Smirnoff Pink Lemonade Vodka last year. It joins a stable of flavored vodkas Smirnoff currently produce, that now number 29. Each flavor starts with a corn distilled vodka base. Natural flavors and certified color are added before bottling Smirnoff Peach Lemonade at 60 proof. While this is the industries first peach lemonade flavored vodka, Mikes Hard Peach Lemonade was launched in 2014. More recently Vizzy and Bud Light released a Peach Lemonade hard seltzer, and Smithworks produces Southern Peach Tea Lemonade Hard Seltzer. Read more

Smirnoff Pink Lemonade Vodka was just released. It joins a Smirnoff flavor lineup that now numbers 28. By my count this is the 6th pink lemonade flavored vodka on the market today. The others include Svedka Strawberry Lemonade, New Amsterdam Pink Whitney, UV Pink Lemonade, Burnett’s Pink Lemonade, and Crown Valley Pink Lemonade. Pinnacle and Sweet Carolina also produce a Lemonade flavored vodka. Smirnoff Pink Lemonade is made from Smirnoff’s corn vodka base. Natural flavors are infused and certified colors are blended before bottling at 60 proof. Marketing material suggests that flavor infusion includes strawberry and raspberry flavor. Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions Lemon & Elderflower Vodka was just released. It is made from a 100% corn distilled vodka base. Natural flavors and essence of real botanicals are infused before bottling at 60 proof. This is the fourth flavor variety in the Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions family. Cucumber and Lime have been a popular flavored vodka combination, as Svedka, Three Olives, Burnett, and Rain have previously released their own Cucumber and Lime flavored vodkas. At 72 calories per 1.5 Oz. serving I view Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions and Diageo stablemate Ketel One Botanicals as the next generation of reduced calorie vodka. Previous reduced calorie flavored vodka brands include Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl and Pitbull’s Voli Vodka. Both were good concepts, backed ,by popular celebrities, but both lacked an important ingredient, good taste. Neither brand currently produces a flavored vodka. Smirnoff Strawberry & Rose Zero Sugar Infusions is one of three flavor variants in Smirnoff’s new Zero Sugar Infusions line of vodka. The other two flavors are Cucumber and Lime, and Watermelon and Mint. Vodka has long been the adult beverage of choice for those counting points and calories. An ice filled glass, a shot of Smirnoff, topped with your favorite flavored seltzer water, was, and is a popular healthier lifestyle option. That option has been challenged with the popularity of Hard Selzer’s. Turn about is fair play as Smirnoff Zero Sugar joins Ketel One Botanical in launching a sugar free flavor infused vodka. Review: Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka
Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka is now made with NON-GMO corn. The previous bottling only specified Midwest grown grain, but it was also made from corn. Monsanto created the first commercially available corn with genetically engineered modifications in 1996. Some estimate over 80% of the corn grown in the US today has been genetically modified. If you have shopped for corn recently, you will see a premium charged for NON-GMO corn. Smirnoff is not passing that added expense to it’s customers. Smirnoff is the worlds best selling vodka, and the history dates back to the 1860’s when Piotr Smirnov opened his distillery in Moscow. He was the first to use a charcoal filtration system. Smirnoff No. 21 is distilled in the US, possibly Connecticut, and bottled in Plainfield Illinois. The spirit is triple distilled and ten times filtered. I’m interested in seeing not only how the new Smirnoff No. 21 tastes, but also how it compares with the previous version. So as not to influence my review I will sample and review the new Smirnoff NO.21 before I sample an unopened bottle of the previous Smirnoff No, 21 Vodka. Read more
Review: Smirnoff Moscow Mule Vodka
Smirnoff Moscow Mule Vodka is a ginger and lime infused vodka. Smirnoff is commemorating the anniversary of the Moscow Mule with this limited edition vodka. Smirnoff invented the Moscow Mule in 1941. For those unfamiliar with a Moscow Mule the drink is made with Smirnoff Vodka, Ginger Beer, and a squeeze of fresh Lime Juice. The cocktail is traditionally served in an ice filled copper mug. Smirnoff Moscow Mule vodka is made with vodka, natural flavors, and certified color. It weighs in at 60 proof. Smirnoff even sells this in a copper colored bottle. The bottle’s label reads, just add ginger ale. The Original Smirnoff Moscow Mule is made with 1.5 Oz. Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka, 4 Oz. Ginger Beer, and a squeeze of fresh lime. It doesn’t sound that complicated. As with all of my reviews Smirnoff Moscow Mule Vodka will be reviewed as a stand alone product. Smirnoff Sourced Watermelon Vodka was just released. It joins their Sourced Vodka lineup that includes Pineapple, Ruby Red Grapefruit, and Cranberry Apple flavors. Smirnoff Sourced Watermelon is made from a vodka base of Smirnoff Recipe 21 vodka. Real fruit juice from concentrate and natural flavors are added. Unlike several flavored vodka’s on the market today, no high fructose corn syrup is added. Real fruit juice flavored vodka is a product category also occupied by the Shady Fruit, Stoli Crushed, and E&J Gallo owned, High Noon brands. Read more
