Review: Ozone Sweet Melon Vodka
Ozone Sweet Melon vodka was introduced July 2006. It is one of five flavored vodkas that include lime, blood orange, white peach, and hemp that are made in Kaunas Lithuania at the AB Stumbras distillery. Ozone vodka is made from whole grains and crystal clear water which is infused with oxygen and filtered through softening filters. Review: Grey Goose Le Melon Vodka
Grey Goose Le Melon vodka will be introduced on May 1. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle a little early. At a time when other distillers are combining fruit flavors or creating vodka renditions of popular deserts, Grey Goose looked in their backyard and found the Cavaillon Melon. This will be their fifth flavor. It is made in France with soft winter wheat and pristine spring water that has been naturally filtered through champagne limestone from the Cognac region of France. It is distilled using a five column distillation process. Spring water filtered through double reverse osmosis is blended with the vodka before it is filtered through cellulose and carbon. Cavaillon Melons picked in Cavaillon France in July and August are delivered to a parfumerie where the flavors and aromas are extracted. These essential oils are then blended with their original vodka. For those including myself who are unfamiliar with the Cavaillon melon it is a small variety of the Cantaloupe. When ripe it has a lime green skin, vertical lines, and creamy orange flesh. Read more
