Review: Stillhouse Peanut Butter Smores Whiskey

Stillhouse Peanut Butter Smores Whiskey was recently released.  It joins a flavored whiskey lineup that includes Peach Tea, Apple Crisp, and Spiced Cherry.  Stillhouse had previously produced a Red Hot, Coconut, and Mint Chip flavored whiskey.  Stillhouse Moonshine was Co-Founded by Brad Beckermann in 2010.  In 2014 Bacardi made a minority investment before acquiring the brand in 2019.  All of the Stillhouse flavored whiskeys are made from the Stillhouse Original Whiskey base made from a 100% corn whiskey base traditionally distilled in copper pot stills.  This one is infused with peanut butter s’mores liqueur.  Stillhouse also produces Stillhouse Black Bourbon and Stillhouse Classic Vodka. Review: Elvis Midnight Snack

Elvis Midnight Snack is a Peanut Butter, Banana, and Bacon flavored whiskey.  It is produced in partnerships with Grain & Barrel Spirits and Elvis Presley Enterprise.  Grain & Barrel produces several brands including Chicken Cock Whiskey, Dixie Vodka, Virgil Kane Low Country Whiskey, High Goal Luxury Gin, and Tequila Eterno Verano.  Midnight Snack joins Elvis Tiger Man Whiskey, and Elvis The King Straight Rye Whiskey.  While the brand claims Elvis’ longtime cook was the first to serve Elvis a Peanut Butter Banana and Bacon sandwich, the story I’ve always heard and research supports is that on February 1 1976 Elvis Presley took his private jet from Graceland to Denver and back in one night because he was craving the 8000 calorie Fools Gold sandwich made by The Colorado Mine Company.  The original recipe includes a loaf of French bread, 1 pound of bacon, one jar of creamy peanut butter, and 1 jar of grape jelly.  The Colorado Mine Company has since closed, but one can still enjoy The Kings favorite snack at Nicks Cafe in Golden Colorado. Review: Magic Rabbit Chocolate and Peanut Butter Whiskey

Magic Rabbit Chocolate and Peanut Butter Whiskey is crafted at Cleveland Whiskey.  Yes another peanut butter whiskey, but today is National Peanut Butter Day.  Cleveland Whiskey was founded in 2009 by Tom Lix.  Tom worked with MAGNET, an incubator in Ohio that focuses on manufacturing companies to developed a process to accelerate the aging process of whiskey.  This process starts with sourced whiskey aged six months in charred American oak barrels.  The whiskey is put in stainless tanks.  The whiskey barrel is cut up, processed, and put into the same tank.  The spirit is agitated and undergoes a series of differences in pressure to squeeze in and out of the wood pores.  The process is complete in one week.  The company has since experimented with a series of different woods to produce unique flavor profiles.  Another experiment started with a group that combined chocolate nibs from the Ivory Coast of Africa and the mountains of Peru, vanilla sourced from Papua New Guinea, Mexico, and Madagascar, pecans grown in California and Texas, fresh cream from local dairies, and peanuts for Georgia farms with their sourced whiskey.  The result is Magic Rabbit Chocolate and Peanut Butter Whiskey. Review: Skrewball Eggnog

Skrewball, The Original Peanut Butter Whiskey just released Skrewball Eggnog.  It is made with real dairy cream, natural flavors and of course Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey.  For those unfamiliar with Skrewball it was created in 2018 by Steve Yeng, a Cambodian immigrant and his wife Brittany Yeng.  Steve and his family own a couple of restaurants including OB Noodle House in Ocean Beach California and The Holding Company in San Diego.  A peanut butter flavored whiskey cocktail was the signature cocktail he developed for the restaurants.  Steve thought a peanut butter flavored whiskey would be a big seller.  He worked with his wife Brittany who has a Masters Degree in chemistry while she was on maternity leave to develop Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey.  While brandy has been the traditional spirit to blend with eggnog, rum, cognac, and whiskey have also been used to make a tasty adult eggnog.  Skrewball Eggnog weighs in at 29.5 proof.  By comparison Rumchata is 27.5 proof and Bailey’s Irish Cream 34 proof.
