Review: Javi’s Ranch Water Watermelon

Javi’s Ranch Water Watermelon is one of 3 flavored ranch waters produced by the makers of High Noon Hard Seltzer.  The other flavors include the previously reviewed Lime and Grapefruit.  By my count this is the third watermelon flavored Ranch Water we have reviewed, trailing only Lime and Grapefruit.  Javi’s is made with 100% agave tequila sparkling water and natural flavors.  Javi’s Ranch Water is currently only available in Southern California, Texas, and the Chicago area markets.  I’m expecting Javi’s to be available nationwide in 2023 perhaps with a fourth flavor and sold in a mix pack.  I’m guessing Mango will be their next flavor. Review: Javi’s Ranch Water Grapefruit

Javi’s Ranch Water was recently launched in Texas, Southern California, and the Chicago Market by E&J Gallo, the makers of High Noon Hard Seltzer.  If all goes well National distribution will follow in 2023.  It is sold it individual flavor four packs in Lime, Grapefruit, and Watermelon flavors.  Javi’s is named for the French Bulldog mascot found on each 12 ounce can.  Javi’s is what I would refer to as a “real ranch water” as it is made from a 100% Weber Blue agave blanco tequila base.  Some canned ranch waters are made with a malt, or fermented cane sugar base.  E&J Gallo has jumped into the hard seltzer and tequila markets with both feet as they not only produce the High Noon brand but they own several tequila brands including Camarena, Komos, and Don Fulano.  The tequila base for Javi’s comes from Envasadora de Productos Lideres.  Sparkling water and natural flavors are blended before canning at 4.5% alcohol. Javi’s Ranch Water was recently launched by E&J Gallo, the makers of High Noon Seltzer.  It is currently only sold in Texas, Southern California and the Chicago market.  It is available online throughout California and Illinois.  The original ranch water cocktail was invented in West Texas and it was made with 100% agave blanco tequila, Topo Chico mineral water, and fresh lime juice.  Ranch Water has also become very popular in canned form with some making theirs with tequila and some with a malt or sugar alcohol base.  Javi’s Ranch Water is made with 100% agave blanco tequila, sparkling water and natural flavors.  It is currently sold in individual flavor 4 packs.  Today we are reviewing Lime.  Watch for our thoughts on Javi’s Ranch Water Grapefruit, and Watermelon on future posts. Review: Dos Equis Ranch Water Variety Pack

Dos Equis Ranch Water was launched June 2021.  It is now available in a four flavor 12 can variety pack.  While most think of Dos Equis as a Mexican Beer, few know Dos Equis began when Wilhelm Hasse a German immigrant arrived in Mexico where he founded Moctezuma Brewery in Veracruz.  He first brewed Siglo XX in 1897.  Dos Equis Amber Especial is brewed the same way, only the name has changed.  In addition to Dos Equis Amber and Dos Equis Lager beer, Dos Equis also brews Dos Equis Lime & Salt and three flavored lagers.  Each 12 ounce can of Dos Equis Ranch Water is made from a sugar alcohol base with natural flavors and weigh in with 100 calories and 4.5% alcohol. Review: Rancho La Gloria Ranch Water

Rancho La Gloria Ranch water was originally launched in 2020 as Texas Ranch Water with two flavors of blue agave hard seltzer, Grapefruit, and Lime.  They recently rebranded to the Rancho La Gloria name to align more with the rest of their product line which includes Rancho La Gloria Agavida, a 100% blue agave sparkling wine sold in peach, strawberry, mango, and green apple flavors, and Rancho La Gloria Cocktails.  They also just announced the release of Rancho La Gloria Infused Tequila.  That is available in Jalapeno Lime, and Pink Lemonade.  Rancho La Gloria Ranch Water is made in Mexico with filtered carbonated water, alcohol from cane sugar and 100% blue agave, cane sugar and natural flavors.  Their two newest flavors Watermelon and Tangerine, are made with real fruit juice.  Each 12 ounce can weights in with 5% alcohol, and 100 calories.  Rancho La Gloria Ranch Water is sold in a 12 can 4 flavor variety pack.  They also produce two seasonal ranch water flavors Pickleback, and Spicy Mango. Review: Topo Chico Ranch Water Hard Seltzer

Topo Chico Ranch Water Hard Seltzer was released January 2022.  It joins a growing list of ranch water hard seltzers now numbering over 20 brands.  Some of these ranch waters are made by brewing companies such as Dos Equis and Modelo.  Some are made with tequila like Cantina and Painted Donkey.  Texas is home to nearly a dozen brands, but ranch water is far from being just a Texas thing.  Waterbird Ranch Water is made in Virginia, Cutwater Ranch Water in California, Arizona Ranch Water in Arizona, and Agave Twist Ranch Water is made by Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland Ohio.  With so many companies producing a canned Ranch Water hard seltzer it was a little amazing none of the biggest hard seltzer brands had created their own.  Until now.  Topo Chico is produced by Molson-Coors the maker of Vizzy and Topo Chico Hard Seltzer.  Since the original ranch water cocktail is made with three ingredients blanco tequila, lime juice, and Topo Chico mineral water, I wonder why it took so long for them to join the party. Review: Karbach Brewing Ranch Water Hard Seltzer

Karbach Brewing Company launched their Ranch Water Hard Seltzer January 2021 in Texas.  They have since expanded distribution.  The Karbach Brewing Company was founded in 2011 by Eric Warner, the former Brewmaster and CEO of Flying Dog, and industry veterans Chuck Robertson, and Ken Goodman.  The brewery was named for its location on Karbach Street in Houston’s Spring Branch neighborhood.  They were acquired by Anheuser-Busch in 2016.  The brewery crafts 11 year round beers including Hopadilla IPA, Rodeo Clown IPA, Clutch City Lager, Love Street Blonde, Crawford Bock, Love Street Light along with several seasonal beers.  Karbach Ranch Water is available in a four flavor 12 can variety pack with 3 cans each of Meyer Lemon, Original Lime, Prickly Pear, and Watermelon.  They also craft Grapefruit and Spicy Mango Ranch Water which is sold in individual six packs.  All of the flavors weigh in with 90 calories, 4.5% alcohol, and 2 carbs.  They all are made from a purified water and cold fermented cane sugar base.  Natural flavors, lime juice from concentrate, monk fruit extract, agave nectar, citric acid, and malted rice.  Monk fruit extract is 150-200 times sweeter than sugar.  Malted rice is an ingredient used in all of the A-B owned hard seltzers, and I have not yet found malted rice in any non A-B hard seltzer brand. Review: Ellum Ranch Patio Water

Ellum Ranch Patio Water is a hard seltzer just released by Deep Ellum Brewing Company in Dallas Texas.  Deep Ellum was the first craft brewery in Dallas when they opened in 2011.  They currently craft 9 year round beers and several seasonal brews.  This is their “City Slicker” take on the ever popular Texas Ranch Water.  The original Texas Ranch Water recipe is made with tequila, Topo Chico, and lime juice.  Unlike the other ranch water hard seltzers on the market today Ellum Ranch does not contain any tequila or agave syrup.  Deep Ellum is made from a cane sugar alcohol base with real lime juice, salt, and electrolytes.  This is not the first hard seltzer Deep Ellum has produced.  They launched Blind Lemon in 2019 and followed that with a Blind Lemon Variety pack that included Blind Lime, Peach, and Berry.  Each 12 ounce can weighs in with 4.5% alcohol, 100 calories and 3% lime juice.
