Review: Ballotin Peanut Butter Chocolate Whiskey

Ballotin Peanut Butter Chocolate Whiskey is the latest chocolate flavored whiskey released by Saloon Spirits.  It joins a flavor lineup that already includes Ballotin Original Chocolate, Bourbon Ball, Chocolate Cherry Cream, Caramel Turtle Chocolate, and Chocolate Mint.  The whiskey base is made from a traditional bourbon mash of 51% or more corn, with wheat and barley making up the balance.  The whiskey is aged for 2 years in previously used oak barrels.  Bourbon must be aged in new American white oak barrels that have been charred.  The char and new oak from those bourbon barrels would have created a flavor barrier.  All natural chocolate and peanut butter flavors and caramel color are blended with the whiskey base before bottling at 60 proof.
