Tropical Colada is one of ten Fennellys Irish Cream liqueurs sold at Total Wine and More stores throughout the US. Robert A Merry & Co. makes well over a dozen brands of Irish Cream liqueur including the Fennellys brand in Tipperary Ireland. While it may seem unfair to call Fennellys a discount Baileys copy cat brand, Fennellys is less expensive than Baileys and nine of the ten Fennellys flavor varieties were already made by Baileys before Fennellys introduced theirs. It pours to a golden milky color. The aroma leads with floral pineapple and cream. Additional time brings out Coconut whiskey notes. The sweet pineapple and dairy cream entry is joined by whiskey building to a creamy colada peak. It fades with whiskey and coconut cream, finishing with candied pineapple, whiskey and cream, leaving a warm mild alcohol burn, and tangy pineapple taste. I liked Fennellys Tropical Colada Irish Cream Liqueur a little more than most of the Fennellys Irish Cream liqueurs I’ve tried, but the pineapple flavor is more candied pineapple and canned pineapple than fresh pineapple. The cream flavor was natural but a little thin, and the bittersweet pineapple finish left a warm alcohol burn.
