Review: Spindrift Spiked Sparkling Water Variety Pack
Spindrift Spiked Sparkling Water was launched April 2021 with a limited release in the Boston, Los Angeles, and San Diego markets. Distribution has since expanded. What sets Spindrift apart from the other hard seltzers on the market today is the absence of “natural flavors” on their ingredients list. While natural flavors certainly sound good, there are over 3000 chemical food additives that are classified as natural flavors. Spindrift was the first sparkling water made with real squeezed fruit when it was introduced in 2010. They have followed the same formula with Spindrift Spiked, as each 12 oz. slim can is made with real squeezed fruit. Spindrift Spiked is made from an alcohol fermented from cane sugar base, and real fruit juice.
Spindrift Mango Spiked Sparkling Water: Is made with 8% juice from alphonso mango puree and orange juice. Each can contains two slices of mango and one piece of orange. It pours to a cloudy orange and mango juice influenced color. The aroma leads with fresh sliced mango. Squeezed orange follows. The tart mango entry is joined by sweet orange juice. It fades with ripe mango and juicy orange and finishes with sour mango, vanilla froyo, and tangy orange juice taste.

Spindrift Pineapple Spiked Sparkling Water: Is made with 10% juice from pineapple juice. Each can contains two slices of pineapple. It pours to a cloudy yellow pineapple juice influenced color. The aroma leads with canned pineapple and sour dough. Additional time brings out notes of maple bacon. The sweet pineapple entry is joined by sour dough building to a tangy pineapple sour dough peak. It fades with creamy seltzer and finishes with canned pineapple, grapefruit peel, butter cream and sour dough taste.

Spindrift Lime Spiked Sparkling Water: Is made with 7% juice from lime juice. Each can contains 1 1/3 limes. It pours to a cloudy lime juice color. The aroma leads with squeezed lime. The fresh lime entry builds to a tart lime peak. It fades with foamy seltzer and finishes with creamy sour lime taste.

Spindrift Half & Half Spiked Sparkling Water: Is made with 4% juice from lemon juice. Each can contains 2/3 of a lemon and brewed black tea. The aroma leads with lemon juice and brewed tea. The sweet lemon entry builds to a lemon juice and black tea peak. It fades with sour lemon, foamy seltzer and sour dough and finishes dry with lemon juice, fresh brewed black tea, and carbon seltzer taste.

The Bottom Line: While there is real fruit juice flavor in each can of Spindrift Spiked it is not oversweet like some of the hard seltzer brands made with fruit juice. There is also a carbon seltzer presence that leaves sour dough flavor. The end result is a seltzer that sounds great on paper but sometimes its the natural flavors added that offset the sour burnt rubber taste seltzer leaves.
