Review: Skyy Infusions Dragon Fruit Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Skyy Dragon Fruit Vodka - CopySkyy Infusions Dragon Fruit Vodka was introduced in 2011.  It is one of 16 Infusion flavors in their current product line.  Dragon Fruit is native to Mexico and it is the fruit of several cactus species.  Skyy starts with Midwestern grown wheat that is quadruple distilled in Pekin Illinois and upon its arrival in San Jose the vodka is blended with water filtered though reverse osmosis and then triple filtered through California limestone.  Natural dragon fruit flavor is infused before bottling at 70 proof. The aroma is floral and strawberry.  The sweet fruit opening has strawberry and floral notes sweetened by vanilla taste.  The vanilla strawberry peak is quite tasty.  As the flavor fades a warm peppery sting arrive before a semi dry bitter finish.  Like most Skyy Infusion varieties, the flavor is quite good, but the finish is a little warm and peppery, making them a better mixer, than sipper.
