The rum then crosses the sea where it is aged a second time, for 1-2 years in Limousin oak barrels previously used to age Pierre Ferrand Cognac. It pours to a bright golden color. The aroma is molasses, oak, banana, baking spice, vanilla, toasted coconut, caramel, pineapple, grape, and citrus. The sweet entry has juicy orange, pineapple, white grape, and baking spice flavor. Smashed banana, vanilla and oak arrive at the midpoint. It fades with molasses, cinnamon, and caramel. The finish is warm with a sprinkle of pepper, toasted coconut, almond and whole orange taste. Plantation Barbados 5 Year Old Rum is so smooth and tasty it should come with a warning label.
