Review: Midnight Moon Moonshake Apple Pie Moonshine Cream Liqueur
Midnight Moon Moonshake Apple Pie Moonshine Cream Liqueur is one of three year round moonshine cream liqueurs recently released by Piedmont Distillers. The other two are Cookies & Cream and Chocolate Brownie. Piedmont also has a seasonal Holiday Nog flavor. All are made from a 100% corn alcohol base. Moonshake Apple pie blends this base with rich vanilla cream (milk, cream, and soy) and apple pie flavor. While these are Piedmont Distillery’s first moonshine creams, several others have produced a moonshine cream including the 11 varieties made from a rum base by Appalachian Distillery, and 9 made by Ole Smoky from a alcohol base of 80% corn and 20% grain. It pours to a milky beige color. The aroma leads with apple sauce. Additional time brings out vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cream. The sweet milky cinnamon ice cream entry is joined by caramel apple building to a baked apple peak. It fades with vanilla cream, cinnamon, and apple and finishes with a mild moonshine burn and more of an oily mouth feel than creamy.
