Review: Dough Ball Cookie Dough Whiskey

Dough Ball Cookie Dough Whiskey was launched by a family owned beverage company August 2021.  It was inspired by their favorite things cookies, whiskey, and a chubby Bulldog, named Doughball.  While I prefer my chocolate chip cookies warm out of the oven, edible cookie dough has become an actual food category.  It has been several years since some of the biggest names in flavored whiskey including Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, and Crown Royal have released a new flavored whiskey, smaller and independent brands continue to develop new flavors.  There are several flavored whiskey’s I will never sample including Pickled Herring Whisky, Snake Whisky, and Reindeer Horn Whiskey.  Yes those are real whiskey flavors.  Cookie Dough flavored whiskey I’ll try. Review: Revel Stoke S’Moregasm Whisky

Revel Stoke S’Moregasm is one of 12 flavored Canadian Whisky’s currently produced by Philips Distillers.  All are made with a triple distilled Canadian Whisky base made from a blend of rye, corn, and barley at a distillery in Alberta Canada.  The whisky is aged for 3 years in charred white oak barrels.  The barrels are shipped to Princeton Minnesota where natural flavors are blended before bottling at 70 proof.  Revel Stoke rebranded their product line last fall to shift the focus from flavor to bold energy.  Each flavor is identified by a personality driven name.  Revel Stoke Peach became Son of a Peach.  Peanut Butter became Nutcrusher, Cinnamon became Hot Box.  Revel Stoke S’Moregasm was released July 2022 along with Revel Stoke Big Richard Dill Pickle flavored whisky.  it is crafted to bring back memories of roasting marshmallows on an open fire and sandwiching the finished product with milk chocolate and a graham cracker.  Read more »

Review: Ole Smoky Pumpkin Spice Cream Whiskey

Ole Smoky Pumpkin Spice Cream Whiskey is now available as a Limited Time seasonal release.  This is another sign we have entered fall.  Living in the Midwest the temperature has dropped and leaves have fallen.  The football season has begun and the baseball season is nearing completion.  Halloween Trick or Treat candy displays arrived a month ago, and Costco has transitioned from Key Lime Pie to Pumpkin Pie.  There is no food product that signifies fall more than pumpkin.  Turkey has a day.  Pumpkin has a season.  But lets be honest while Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Muffins and some Pumpkin Beers are made with real pumpkin, pumpkin spice is the real flavor of fall.  It’s Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Spice Cheerios, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies, Pumpkin Spice Oreo’s, and believe it or not Pumpkin Spice Spam.  Some even feed their best friends Pumpkin Spice Milk Bone Dog Biscuits.  None of these products have any real pumpkin.  Fall is also Prime Time for cream liqueurs as more cream liqueur will be consumed in the next few months than the rest of the year.  Ole Smoky Pumpkin Spice Cream Whiskey, is both pumpkin spice flavored and a cream liqueur.  Ole Smoky is best known for its Moonshine, they currently produce 32 different varieties.  They also craft 17 different flavors of whiskey.  Ole Smoky Pumpkin Spice Cream Whiskey is made from a 100% corn whiskey base that is barrel aged for 2 years.  Milk, cream, soy, natural and artificial flavors are blended before bottling at 35 proof. Review: Ambros Banana Whiskey

Ambros Banana Whiskey was released October 2018.  It is made from a 3 year old Irish Whiskey base and infused with only 100% real banana’s in Henderson Nevada.  To be specific no artificial flavors, “natural” flavors, fruit juice concentrate, or added sugar are added.  50,000 hand peeled bananas are needed for each batch of Ambros.  Banana’s are the most consumed fruit on the planet yet they have yet to make much of an impact in the world of adult beverages.  I have reviewed 4 banana flavored vodka’s and all four are no longer produced.  The only banana flavored vodka currently produced is Burnetts Strawberry Banana.  With dozens of flavor varieties the only banana flavored hard seltzer I’m aware of is the just released Happy Dad Banana Hard Seltzer, available as a limited release.  Banana seems to be limited to flavored rum and whiskey.  We have previously reviewed Howler Head, Skatter Brain, and Whiskey Smith banana flavored whiskey.  Ambros is the only banana spirit I’m aware of infused with real banana, so we are anxious to taste the results. Review: Warrior Peanut Butter Cup Whiskey

Warrior Peanut Butter Cup Whiskey was launched May 2020 by former vet Rich Clemson and his wife Mary. They sold their business, Pasta USA, in 2006 and instead of retiring they looked for their next challenge.  Their previous business gave them several grain based connections so the decided to start crafting spirits.  By December 2017 they were producing vodka and gin at their Liquid Brands Distillery, built in a 7500 square foot renovated warehouse in East Spokane Washington.  They currently produce 22 spirits including several whiskey’s, vodka’s, and gins.  The whiskey base is made from locally sourced corn grown in Palouse Hills Washington.  Once distilled in their custom build still the whiskey rests in new American white oak barrels.  Natural flavors are blended before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Jameson Orange

Jameson Orange Irish Whiskey was just released in the US.  It was first released in the UK August 2021.  Jameson Lime & Ginger was recently launched in Russia.  Seems like a curious place to kick off a new spirit from one of the worlds largest whiskey producers.  It is made with Jameson Irish Whiskey and natural orange flavor.  Jameson Original Irish Whiskey is made from 3 ingredients, barley, both malted and unmalted grown within 100 miles of the distillery, non GMO maize grown in the South of France, and water sourced from the Dungourney River.  Jameson is a blend of pot still and fine grain whiskey.  Both are triple distilled and aged for a minimum of four years in both used bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry casks.  Read more »
