Review: Hanson of Sonoma Organic Cucumber Vodka

Hanson of Sonoma Organic Cucumber Vodka is one of six vodka varieties crafted by the Hanson Family in Sonoma California.  The others include Mandarin, Ginger, Boysenberry, Espresso, and their Original unflavored.  The vodka base is made from organic Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and French Colombard grapes and pure artesian well water.  The spirit is seven times small batch distilled in a pot still and a column still with 50 distillation plates.  A proprietary seven stage filtration follows.  The vodka base is then infused with organic cucumber before hand bottling at 80 proof.The aroma is juicy fresh smashed grapes, butterscotch, and al dente pasta.  The sweet natural grape entry is joined by fresh cucumber and vanilla cream taste, building to a bright grape and cucumber peak.  Like the entire family of Hanson Vodka’s, there is a soft and mineral feel that is much softer than most 80 proof spirits.  The fade is warm and semidry, with both bittersweet cucumber peel, and grape skin flavor, finishing dry and peppery with charcoal and black licorice taste.  Cucumber has become a very popular flavored vodka.  Some Distillery’s infuse their cucumber flavored vodka with lime, and some with vanilla to sweeten the cucumber taste.  The sweet grape flavor of Hanson of Sonoma Organic Cucumber Vodka comes naturally from the grape distilled vodka base.
