Review: Truly Holiday Party Pack 2022

by Jeff Ellingson

Truly has released a new Holiday Party Pack for 2022 and while they are the first hard seltzer brand to release their Holiday Pack, for me the flavors don’t scream “Holiday Pack”.  This may be a good thing since others have already released Egg Nog and Gingerbread flavored hard seltzers and I’m not ready for a Turkey, or Mashed Potato and Gravy hard seltzer.  Truly has brought back two of last years flavors, Holiday Sangria, and Cran Orange Sparkler but even they have been tweaked to now include real fruit juice.  Blackberry Bramble and Pear Martini are new this year.  Each 12 ounce slim can is made with filtered water, alcohol, natural flavors, real fruit juice from concentrate, and stevia.

Truly Holiday Sangria Style:  Made with less than 2% orange juice from concentrate.  The aroma leads with orange.  Tropical punch, bakery spice, and sangria notes follow.  The fruit juice entry has orange, cherry and lemon flavor building to a sangria peak that includes peach and strawberry.  It fades with orange and lemon, finishing with cherry, fruit punch and red wine notes.

Grade: A-

Truly Blackberry Bramble:  Made with blackberry juice from concentrate.  It pours to a pale purple color.  The aroma leads with blackberry jam.  The sweet blackberry entry builds to a juicy ripe blackberry peak.  It fades with tart blackberry and finishes with blackberry preserve and a squeeze of lemon.

Grade: A

Truly Pear Martini Style:  Made with less than 2% pear juice from concentrate.  The aroma leads with canned pears.  The ripe pear entry builds to a juicy pear peak.  It fades with pear juice and stevia flavor and finishes bittersweet with tangy pear and lemon citrus taste.

Grade: B+

Truly Cran Orange Sparkler:  Made with cranberry juice from concentrate and orange juice from concentrate.  It pours to a pink color.  The aroma leads with peeled orange.  The sugary sweet Orange Jell-O entry is joined by cranberry and orange juice building to a tangy orange and tart cranberry peak.  It fades with stevia sweetened orange slice and unsweetened cranberry juice leaving stevia, bittersweet candied orange slice, and Craisins taste.

Grade: C+
