Review: Strongbow Honey and Apple Hard Cider

by Jeff Ellingson

strongbow honey apple - CopyStrongbow Honey and Apple Hard Cider was introduced with their Gold Apple cider in March 2014.  They are replacing their original Strongbow.  With a 125 year history of making hard cider H.P. Bulmer was first acquired by Scottish and Newcastle in 2003 and later Heineken in 2008.  Honey Apple is made in Aubel Belgium and it is the first hard cider to combine apples with honey.  This continues the trend of adding honey to alcohol that has seen several bourbons, whiskeys, and scotches introduce honey flavored versions of their origin to their product line. The aroma is apple with a hint of honey.  It pours to a deep golden color with medium carbonation.  The sweet apple entry is joined by honey and fades with some floral notes before a tart semi-dry finish.  While this is not a bad cider I prefer the original Strongbow Hard Cider which this replaced.

Made in Aubel Belgium
