Review: Simply Spiked Peach

by Jeff Ellingson

Simply Spiked Peach was just released.  It is sold in a 4 flavor 12 can variety pack and also in individual 24 ounce cans.  Last year Molson Coors and Coca-Cola partnered to release Simply Spiked Lemonade.  The history of the Simply Orange brand dates back to 2001 when Minute Maid launched Simply Orange made from 100% orange juice not from concentrate.  Minute Maid had been acquired by Coca-Cola in 1980.  Simply Orange is currently the second best selling brand of orange juice in the US.  In 2006 they launch Simply Lemonade and in 2017 Simply Peach.  Each 12 ounce slim can is made with 5% real juice, first squeezed then concentrated and weights in with 5% alcohol and 170 calories.  Simply Spiked Signature Peach is made with carbonated water, alcohol, cane sugar, peach juice from concentrate, apple juice from concentrate, natural flavor, and stevia.  The other three flavors are made the same way with the addition of either Mango, Strawberry, or Kiwi juice from concentrate.

Simply Spiked Signature Peach: The aroma leads with sliced peach.  The sweet ripe peach entry builds to a juicy peach peak.  It fades with apple juice and peach syrup and finishes with apple sauce, and stevia dusted peach wedge.

Grade: B+

Simply Spiked Strawberry Peach:  The aroma leads with strawberry puree and peach marmalade.  The strawberry jam entry is joined by apple juice and Peach Jell-O building to a frozen strawberry and sour peach gummy peak.  It fades with canned peaches in syrup and finishes with golden delicious apple, freeze dried peach, and stevia dipped strawberry.

Grade: B-

Simply Spiked Mango Peach:  The aroma leads with fresh mango.  The sweet mango and peach entry builds to a ripe mango peak.  It fades with peach juice and stevia dipped mango wedges and finishes with canned peach and dried mango taste.

Grade: A-

Simply Spiked Kiwi Peach:  The aroma leads with sliced kiwi with notes of pineapple, strawberry.  Peach puree follows.  Additional time bring out apple and banana.  The sweet kiwi entry has notes of pineapple and strawberry building to a kiwi and peach juice peak.  It fades with banana and apple juice and finishes with tangy pineapple, green apple, stevia, and peach jam taste.

Grade: B

The Bottom Line:  There is real juice flavor in each can or Simply Spiked but it is quite a bit sweeter than most of the hard seltzers on the market today.  While there is no carbon seltzer on the finish there is some stevia taste that adds to the overall sweetness.
