Review: Point Coast Radler

by Jeff Ellingson

Point Coast Radler - CopyPoint Coast Radler was introduced in 2014.  It is one of six seasonal beers brewed at the Stevens Point Brewery where they have been continuously operated since 1857.  Radler’s were first introduced in 1922 near Munich Germany and they were a refreshing combination of Pilsner and Lemon-Lime.  Point Coast Radler is available June 1 – August 31.  It is an ale crafted with Munich Malts and Sterling Hops with natural citrus flavors of lemon-lime and grapefruit. It pours to a golden color with a thick white head.  The aroma is a refreshing blend of lemon and lime with only a hint of malt.  The lemon lime flavored entry has a light malty backing.  It is joined by fresh grapefruit flavor, and fades with the first real taste of beer before a long citrus finish, with a touch of honey.  This is a light refreshing beer that does a great job of balancing natural lemon, lime, and grapefruit flavors.
