Review: Pinnacle Mimosa Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Pinnacle mimosa - CopyPinnacle Mimosa vodka was just introduced along with their Habanero flavored vodka.  For those unfamiliar with a mimosa, it is a mix of Champaign and orange juice that is most commonly served at Sunday brunch.  This is Pinnacles third orange flavored vodka joining their Orange and Orange Whipped Cream flavors.  I guess when you have nearly 50 vodka flavors their is going to be some overlap.  Pinnacle starts with French grown wheat that is distilled five times.  Pure French spring water is added before it is shipped to Frankfort Kentucky where natural flavors are added before it is bottled at 60 proof. The aroma is orange juice and Juicy Fruit gum with a Champaign backing.  The orange juice and Sprite flavored entry builds to a sweet, than tart orange peak.  There is some Champaign flavor in the background that becomes more obvious when the orange flavor fades.  The finish is where I pick up most of the Champaign flavor along with a little heat and a slight burn as I swallow.

Made in Frankfort Kentucky with vodka distilled in France

Do you have any idea on what to mix the Mimosa flavor with? I love mimosas, but not sure about drinking this straight up or even on the rocks.
    Thank you

Pinnacle Mimosa is a challenging vodka to mix. Pinnacle has drink recipes for all of their vodka flavors on their website except for one flavor, Pinnacle Mimosa. One option would be to mix it with orange juice and Sprite. This would provide fresh orange flavor and bubbles while reducing the alcohol content. Or you might just add Orange Soda. Florida’s Natural also makes a 100% Orange and Strawberry Juice that mixes well with Pinnacle Mimosa. I also have a frozen Margarita maker and I often mix fruit puree’s with vodka to create homemade frozen cocktails. You can find bottles of these puree mixes at liquor stores. One brand I like is Finest Call.
