Painted Donkey Tequila Cocktails are available in four flavor varieties which are sold in individual flavor six packs at Total Wine and More stores.  The current lineup includes Ranch Water, Spicy Ranch Water, Watermelon, and Pineapple.  Each is made with tequila made from 100% agave, sparkling water and natural flavors and is produced and canned at Levecke Corporation in Mira Loma California.  Total Wine and More also sells Painted Donkey tequila and presumably Painted Donkey Tequila Cocktails are made from a Painted Donkey Blanco tequila base.   

Painted Donkey Ranch Water:  The aroma leads with Sprite.  Vanilla and agave follows.  The sweetened lime juice entry is joined by agave building to a tart ranch water peak.  It fades with sour lime, vanilla, and creamy soda water.  The finish leaves sweetened lime, and Blanco tequila taste.

Painted Donkey Watermelon: The aroma leads with candied watermelon.  Vanilla, and agave follow.  The sweetened watermelon entry builds to a Jolly Rancher Watermelon peak.  It fades with vanilla, agave, and foamy soda water finishing with Sour Patch Kids Watermelon, vanilla, and agave taste.

Grade: B

Painted Donkey Pineapple: The aroma leads with equal parts pineapple and agave.  The sweet pineapple entry is joined by vanilla and agave.  It fades with sweetened pineapple and finishes with sour pineapple, grapefruit, vanilla, and Blanco tequila taste.

Painted Donkey Spicy Ranch Water:  The aroma leads with jalapeno pepper.  A deep breath will clear your sinus.  Lime and agave follow.  The lime entry is immediately joined by jalapeno pepper flavor and heat.  It fades with sour lime and pepper flavor and finishes with jalapeno, vanilla, and lime juice.  I like jalapeno peppers as a flavor accent to several foods I eat, but I don’t drink jalapeno pepper juice straight from the bottle.  The heat and pepper flavor dominate the entire experience leaving very little agave taste.

The Bottom Line:  I enjoyed the flavor of the 100% agave tequila base.  The added fruit flavors come off a little too sweet and the jalapeno pepper flavor overwhelms the Spicy Ranch Water.
