Review: McKenzies Seasonal Reserve Hard Cider

by Jeff Ellingson

Mckenzies seasonal reserve - CopyMcKenzies Seasonal Reserve Hard cider is one of six hard ciders they brew with cider from Mayer Brothers in West Seneca New York.  Sourcing apples should not be an issue as New York State is the second largest producer of apples in the US.  Seasonal Reserve is crafted with natural nutmeg and cinnamon and bottled at 5% alcohol. It pours to a lightly carbonated cloudy golden color.  The aroma is clove and apple with a hint of nutmeg.  The flavor enters with a spicy potpourri of clove and nutmeg with crisp apple, building to a tart apple peak before a cinnamon clove flavored finish.  While a like the apple flavor of this cider, I would have preferred a little less spice.
