Review: Hard Chaw Strong Irish Cream Liqueur

Hard Chaw Strong Irish Cream Liqueur was launched in Colorado in 2019.  Distribution first spread to Minnesota.  Hard Chaw is know available in Wisconsin and online.  Colm O’Neill a former All-Ireland winning Gaelic football player and the owner of several Irish pubs spent 7 years researching and developing Hard Claw, eventually partnering with Irelands premier family owned creamery and distillery to created the Hard Chaw brand.  Hard Chaw was inspired by the Shillelagh Shot a 50-50 blend of Baileys and Jameson.  Hard Chaw is made from the finest pot still Irish Whiskies, craft distilled Irish potcheen, and fresh Irish dairy cream.  Potcheen is Irish Moonshine and most Irish cream liqueurs are made with a blended Irish whiskey as opposed to a pot still style.  Hard Chaw weighs in at 50 proof, 50% higher than traditional Irish Cream liqueurs.  Hard Chaw pours to a creamy chocolate milk color.  The aroma leads with milk chocolate, cream, vanilla, and sweet whiskey.  Additional time brings out a bit of toasted coconut.  The sweet Irish Whiskey, vanilla and fresh dairy cream entry has a thick silky feel.  Milk chocolate arrives building to a luxurious thick whipped cream peak.  It fades with Irish Whiskey and finishes with mild warmth, heavy whipped cream, vanilla, cocoa, sweet toasted coconut, and smooth Irish whiskey taste.  At 50 proof Hard Chaw packs a punch compared to the traditional 34 proof Irish Creams, but the extra alcohol adds an additional flavor component that complements the fresh dairy cream, milk chocolate, pot still Irish whiskey, and vanilla taste, without distracting from it.

Pina Chawlada

4 Oz. Hard Chaw

2 Oz. Rum

1 Banana

1 Cup Coconut Water or Milk

1/4 of a Pineapple

Blend With Ice until Smooth

Made in Ireland

25% Alcohol
