Review: Dented Brick Premium Gin
Dented Brick Premium Gin is one of 16 spirits crafted at Dented Brick Distillery. Marc Christensen founded Dented Brick Distillery in 2015 with a goal of building a world-class distillery in one of the driest states in the nation. We previously reviewed Dented Brick Craft Gin which is made from a 100% corn alcohol base. DB Premium Gin is milled, mashed, fermented, and distilled on-site with 80% pumpernickel rye and 20% red winter wheat. Most gin is made from a grain alcohol base. Dented Brick crafts their Premium Gin from the same alcohol base as their Premium Vodka. Both are proofed with snow melt runoff from Utah’s Wasatch Mountains that flows through the earth into their artesian water well. The vodka is proofed to 80 the gin base 90 proof. Juniper, Spruce Tips, Orange, Lavender and Angelica Root are macerated with this base before bottling on-site. The aroma leads with juniper and orange. Additional time brings out pine, warm rye bread, and herbal notes. The sweet orange and juniper entry builds to an earthy, citrus, and lavender peak. It fades with soft pastry, citrus, and juniper, finishing warm and peppery with orange peel, spruce tips, and peppercorn.
