Calypso Coconut Rum - CopyCalypso Coconut Rum is named for the Greek nymph from Homers Odyssey best known for keeping Odysseus prisoner on the island of Ogygia for 7 years in an attempt to make him her immortal husband.  Calypso rum is one of 28 rum brands in the Sazerac product line.  It is made with rum distilled in the US Virgin Islands.  After arriving in Kentucky natural flavors are blended before bottling at 42 proof.The aroma is cream soda, vanilla, coconut, banana, and pineapple.  The vanilla cream soda entry is joined by coconut cake taste.  It fades with tangy pineapple flavor that maintains some coconut bubblegum flavor but finishes a little bitter with alcohol taste and more of a rum burn then I would expect from a rum weighing in at only 42 proof.
