Review: Baileys with a hint of Coffee

by Jeff Ellingson

Baileys with a hint of Coffee was introduced in 2008.  It followed the successful release of their caramel and mint flavors.  By adding dark roasted coffee to their aged Irish whiskey, spirits, and fresh dairy cream they have created a product that screams to be blended with ice for the ultimate adult Frappuccino style beverage.Baileys with a hint of Coffee  In the bottle the aroma is fresh roasted coffee and cream.  Poured in my glass to a coffee and cream color I pick up some whiskey scents.  In my mouth the feel is velvety soft and creamy.  The initial taste of dairy fresh cream is followed by a premium coffee ice cream flavor, fading to a soft sweet whiskey finish.  While there is more than a hint of coffee in the flavor I feel it does not dominate the entire experience.  The Irish whiskey is present but this may be the softest landing I’ve experienced with a whiskey based Irish cream.
