Review: Fennellys Almond Cream Liqueur

Fennellys Almond Cream Liqueur was recently added to the Fennellys Family of Irish Cream Liqueurs.  Adoption might be a better term as Fennellys Almond Cream Liqueur does not share the bloodline needed to be considered an Irish Cream Liqueur as it is not made with Irish cream or Irish Whiskey.  One look at the bottle tells you they are targeting Baileys Almande in more than just flavor content, as they both share cream colored bottles with an almond blossom design.  Unlike Baileys Almande which is made in the US, Fennellys Almond Cream is produced in Ireland.  Fennellys hits the scale at the traditional Irish cream weight of 34 proof.  Baileys Almande is a trim 26 proof. Review: Flannerys White Chocolate Liqueur

Flannerys White Chocolate Liqueur is made in Ireland with cream, neutral spirits, malt whiskey, and natural flavors by R.A. Merry & Co.  Merry & Co. also produces Flannerys original Irish Cream.  If you can think of an Irish name, first or last, its a good bet there is an Irish Cream liqueur named for them.  It is also quite likely Merry & Co. makes it, as they produce more brands of Irish cream than anyone else. Review: Fennellys Strawberry & Cream

Fennellys Strawberry & Cream is one of seven varieties of Irish Cream made by Robert A Merry & Co. under the Fennellys brand.  Only Baileys with nine, has a larger flavor lineup.  Fennellys translate to Fair Valor in Gaelic.  Fennellys is one of several brands of Irish cream liqueur sold at Total Wine & More stores.  It is made from natural Irish cream, aged Irish Whiskey, Irish Spirits, natural flavor, and natural color. Review: Sheelin Peanut Butter Country Cream

Sheelin Peanut Butter Country Cream was recently released.  It is made from grape wine, neutral spirits, natural flavors and caramel color in Co. Tipperary Ireland by R.A Merry & Co.  Missing from the ingredient list is cream although the bottles label does list milk as an ingredient further down the bottles label.  Sheelin is one of several Irish creams and country cream brands sold at Total Wine & More stores.  R.A. Merry also makes Original Sheelin and Sheelin White Chocolate.  Country Cream is a designation given cream liqueurs produced in Ireland with wine instead of Irish Whiskey.  With over 20 Peanut Butter Whiskies already on the market today it was only a matter of time before someone produced a peanut butter flavored Irish cream liqueur. Review: Mollys Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream

Mollys Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream is one of three varieties of Irish cream Terra produces under the Molly’s label.  We reviewed Mollys Pumpkin Spice back in 2013 but Terra has since tweaked the recipe.  With Baileys opting for an Apple flavored Irish cream instead of Pumpkin Spice this year, Mollys Pumpkin Spice is looking to fill the gap.  Terra LTD is owned by the McKevitt family and it is the largest family owned cream liqueur producer in Ireland.  Terra produces several brands of Irish Cream but they may have saved the best for themselves as Molly’s is their own produced flagship Irish Cream Brand. Review: Baileys Apple Pie

Baileys Apple Pie was just released.  Just as we were expecting a press release announcing the annual late September release of Baileys Pumpkin Spice, Diageo surprised us with the apple pie and vanilla ice cream inspired Baileys Apple Pie.  This makes sense as Crown Royal Regal Apple, another Diageo owned product, is the second best selling flavored whiskey, behind only Fireball in sales.  Apple Pie is one of 3 Limited Edition releases Baileys has in their stable of 10 Irish cream liqueurs they sell in the US.  That’s more flavor varieties than they sell in any market they serve, including the UK.  Baileys Apple Pie starts with the same Irish dairy cream, triple distilled Irish whiskey and spirits recipe they use to create Original Baileys Irish Cream.  Natural flavors are blended before bottling at 34 proof. Review: Declans Irish Cream Wine Cocktail

Declans Irish Cream Wine Cocktail is made with grape wine, cream, natural flavors, and caramel color.  It is bottled by Brookstone Distilling Company in Lewiston Maine.  To use the Irish Cream name the cream must come from Ireland.  True Irish Cream is also made with Irish Whiskey.  In Ireland, Irish Country Cream is the designation given Irish Creams made with wine.  It is not quite clear as to what part, if any of Declans Irish Cream Wine Cocktail is actually sourced from Ireland. Review: Quinns Irish Cream

Quinns Irish Cream was recently released.  It appears to be Target’s new house brand.  Also new to their shelves are several other Target only spirits including a vodka.  No product information is available on the bottles label or the Target website.  The fact that they have labeled this an Irish Cream Liqueur tells me this is made from Irish Whiskey, fresh dairy cream, and natural flavors.  Most Irish Cream liqueurs also include neutral spirits.  Quinns is imported by Universal Brands, Princeton Minnesota.  Princeton Minnesota is the import location of over a dozen private label Irish cream liqueurs. Review: The Whistler Blenders Select Irish Cream

The Whistler Trilogy was just released.  It consists of three spirits, The Whistler Double Oaked, The Whistler Irish Honey, and The Whistler Irish Cream.  All are crafted at the Boann Distillery in Co. Meath Ireland.  In 1774 Drogheda hosted 18 distilleries.  By 1822 that number had dropped to 1.  When the Boann distillery opened in 2017 it was the first distillery to open in Drogheda in 50 years.  The Boann Distillery is part of the Na Cuana Group which also owns Adams Cider Company, Boyne Brewhouse, and Robert A Merry & Co.  Today we are reviewing The Whistler Irish Cream.  It is the first Irish cream crafted with single pot still Irish whiskey.  Every raw ingredient sourced is 100% natural, and 100% local.  Every drop of water is drawn from their Boyne Valley well.  Every grain of barley is provided by native farmers.  The Irish cream comes from the Emerald Isle’s famous grass fed dairy cows.  From milling to mashing, maturing to bottling every mouthful of Boann malted pot still whiskey is created within the family distillery.
