Review: UV Salty Watermelon Vodka
UV Salty Watermelon vodka was introduced by Phillips Distilling along with their Peach flavored vodka in May of 2013 as their 18th and 19th flavors. It is made in Princeton Minnesota with their yellow corn based vodka and bottled at 30% alcohol. With water representing 91% of a watermelons weight, salt has been used by many as a way of bringing out more of the natural sweetness by creating a salty sweet contrast. UV Salty Watermelon is made with natural flavors. The bright pink color it pours to is not.The aroma is summer fresh watermelon without a hint of salt or vodka. The flavor is very salty and while I pick up some watermelon the dominant flavor is salt. The watermelon flavor I pick up is very good but the 110mg of sodium contained in each serving is way too much to enjoy. Their are some drink recipes that weaken the ocean of salt taste, but it is also at the expense of the watermelon. I’ll take a pass on this one.
