Review: St Patricks Irish Cream Liqueur

by Jeff Ellingson

St Patricks Irish Cram Liqueur is produced by The Galloway Company of Neenah Wisconsin.  Galloway has been supplying an American made cream liqueur base for over ten years.  Their customer base includes companies blending this base with bourbon, rum, vodka, and wine.  RumChata is one of their customers.  St Patricks Irish Cream is contract produced at the Minhas Distillery in Monroe Wisconsin.  It is made with Irish Whisky, real Wisconsin dairy cream, and natural flavors.  It pours to a caramel chocolate milk color.  The aroma is chocolate ice cream with a soft whisky backing.  The sweet marshmallow and cream entry has a soft mouth feel.  Milk chocolate flavor arrives and builds to a dark chocolate Irish Whisky peak.  It fades with a warm mild sting and caramel flavor.  The finish has a hint of coconut, and a healthy dose of Irish Whisky, that leaves an aftertaste of cream and a mild whisky burn.  I’m still a little confused as to how a liqueur made with real Wisconsin dairy cream can be called an Irish Cream Liqueur, but St Patricks Irish Cream Liqueur is a value priced cream liqueur, that doesn’t have a bargain brand taste.
