Review: Snow Leopard Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Snow Leopard Vodka was created by Stephen Sparrow and launched in 2006.  It is crafted with spelt grain which is five times more expensive than wheat or rye.  Snow Leopard is small batch distilled six times and filtered through active charcoal at the Polmos Lublin Distillery in Poland.  Natural spring water from an onsite well is blended to reduce to 80 proof.  15% of all profits are given directly to conservation projects through the Snow Leopard Trust. The aroma is fresh rising bread dough, sliced almonds, and lemon rind with an old world vodka backing.  The soft entry has creamy wheat and vanilla extract flavor building to a sweet cream and lemon cookie peak.  It fades with southing warmth, and finishes with a mild peppery sting with charcoal taste and mineral texture.  This is a very smooth and well crafted vodka, that is doing its part in protecting one of the worlds most endangered species.
