Review: Over the Barrel Apple Ale

Over the Barrel Apple Ale was released September 2016.  It joins five Over the Barrel Hard Soda flavors created by the Rhinelander Brewing Company.  The Rhinelander Brewery opened in Rhinelander Wisconsin in 1845 and closed in 1967.  Their beer continues to be contract brewed in Monroe Wisconsin.  Very little information is available about this ale even four months after its release.  The Rhinelander Brewing Company website has no information at all.  The 11.16 Oz. bottle describes this as a malt beverage specialty ale with natural flavors including cane sugar and caramel color added.  I stumbled across this ale, probably a bad description coming from someone reviewing alcohol, in Dubuque Iowa.  Read more »

Review: Not Your Moms Apple Pie

Not Your Moms Apple Pie is one of two pie flavored beers the Small Town Brewery just released for sale in 6 packs of 12 ounce bottles.  While their other pie flavor, Strawberry Rhubarb, may be more original, apple has been a very popular flavor in the world of spirits and beers for several years.  Apple Pie as a specific apple flavor is also getting very popular.  Apple Pie is the best selling moonshine flavor.  Diageo created Pie Face Apple Pie flavored Whiskey.  Sprecher even makes an Apple Pie flavored beer.  Not Your Moms Apple Pie is brewed with Madagascar Vanilla and cinnamon with apple juice and other natural and artificial flavors.  Caramel color is added before bottling. Review: Best Damn Apple Ale

Best Damn Apple Ale Image - CopyBest Damn Apple Ale joins the Anheuser-Busch line of Best Damn Products.  The lineup currently also features their two hard soda’s, Best Damn Root Beer, and Best Damn Cherry Cola.  More flavors are sure to follow.  Before launching the Best Damn line they had to purchase the bestdamn.com site that had been owned and registered since June 2000.  No details on the cost were released, but I’m guessing it was less than the price paid for stamps.com.  Anheuser-Busch has been increasingly adding apples to their product line.  Their other apple products include Johnny Appleseed Hard Apple Cider, Bud Light Apple Rita, Shock Top Honey Crisp Apple Wheat, and they even tested a Bud Light Apple in Georgia.  Best Damn Apple Ale is brewed with 100% natural apple flavor.
