Review: Tightline Organic Vodka
Tightline Organic Vodka is crafted at Tattersall Distillery in River Falls Wisconsin. Dan Oskey and Jon Kreidler founded the original Tattersall Distillery in Minneapolis in 2014. They opened their River Falls Distillery December 2021. With a 405KW rooftop solar array producing a yearly average of 477,900 KWh of electricity, the equivalent of 373 tons of CO2 offset, Tattersall produces more energy than any distillery in the US. In addition, no water goes to waste and the spent grain goes to local cattle and bison farmers. In addition to vodka they produce whiskey, apple brandy, aquavit, gin, rum, rye, spiced rum, wheated bourbon, absinthe, a dozen liqueurs, and a line of canned cocktails. While no production details are available on the Tattersall website, I’ve been told Tightline Organic Vodka follows the same production process as their Tattersall Vodka which was produced in their Minneapolis location. That vodka was made with certified organic corn grown at Four Sisters Farm in Rochester Minnesota. The corn is milled at Aderson Farms in Cambridge Minnesota. The spirit is small batch distilled six times in a Vendome Copper and Brass Works column still and triple filtered. The aroma leads with vanilla, coconut, and peach. Additional time brings out boiled corn and banana peel. The sweet citrus entry has a soft mineral feel building to a creamy vanilla and peach peak. It fades with orange and banana and finishes with citrus, mineral, sea salt, and pepper.
