Review: Casa Lotos Sotol Blanco
Casa Lotos Sotol Blanco was Co-Founded by Aaron Dujoyne, and first introduced in the US February 2024. It is crafted by the Ruelas family, fourth generation sotolero’s. The entire process is accomplished with solar power. It is made from 100% wild native dasylirion grown for 12-22 years without pesticides. The head of the dasylirion is cooked in brick ovens. Dasylirion is a member of the asparagus family. The juice is fermented in native pine and then double distilled in copper stills. Casa Lotos Sotol was awarded a Double Gold Medal at the 2024 & 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The aroma leads with vanilla, caramel, and marshmallow. Additional time brings out pine and maple syrup. The sweet creamy vanilla and citrus entry is joined by marshmallow building to a caramel and maple peak. It fades with lemon and green pepper and finishes with a soft mineral feel, green peppercorn, sea salt, vanilla, and lemon peel.
