Review: Malibu Black Coconut Rum

Malibu Black Coconut Rum - CopyMalibu Black Coconut Rum was released in 2011.  At 70 proof this should not be confused with Malibu Original Coconut Rum which is bottled at 42 proof.  It is one of 14 varieties of rum created by Malibu.  Each flavor starts with molasses from the finest sugar cane crops and pure water.  After fermenting with a proprietary yeast it is distilled 3 times at the West Indies Distillery in Barbados.  The rum is shipped to Canada where coconut liqueur is infused with the rum before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Malibu Island Spiced Rum

Malibu Island Spiced Rum - CopyMalibu Island Spiced Rum was introduced March 2013.  It is one of 14 varieties of rum created by Malibu.  The 14th flavor Pineapple Upside Down Cake was just released.  Island Spiced is made with rum distilled in Barbados.  Coconut liqueur, light spices, cinnamon, vanilla, and Truvia are infused with the rum, before it is bottled at 60 proof in Canada.   While there are several reduced calorie vodka’s on the market today, this is the first and only reduced calorie rum I’m aware of. Malibu Peaches and Cream - CopyMalibu Peaches N Cream rum will soon be hitting store shelves.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle a little early.  It is one of 14 flavored rums they create with their Original Coconut rum as a base.  Malibu starts with molasses from the finest sugarcane crops and it is distilled three times at the West Indies distillery in Barbados.  Natural coconut flavored liqueur and peach and cream flavors are blended before bottling in Canada at 42 proof. Review: Malibu Passion Fruit Rum

Malibu Passion Fruit rum - CopyMalibu Passion Fruit rum was introduced April 2005.  It is one of 13 flavored rums made with triple distilled rum from the West Indies Distillery in Barbados.  Natural passion fruit flavor is added in Canada where it is bottled at 42 proof.  Passion fruit is native to Brazil and Argentina and is round to oval in shape with a deep purple color when ripe. Review: Malibu Peach Sparkler

Malibu peach sparkler - CopyMalibu Peach Sparkler was introduced February 2014 along with their Rum Sparkler.  It is made with Caribbean rum, coconut water, and natural peach and coconut flavor.  Carbonation is then infused before bottling at 22 proof.  Because of the carbonation this is a bottle that should be finished in one evening, or sealed with a wine stopper.  You are not getting that cork back in the bottle, I tried. Review: Malibu Cranberry Cherry Rum

Malibu cranberry cherry - CopyMalibu Cranberry Cherry rum was introduced May 2011,  It was the winner with 62% of the vote in a contest Malibu featured on their Facebook page allowing their fans to select their next rum flavor.  It beat out Citrus and a Mint flavor.  While you can still find Cranberry Cherry on some liquor store shelves you better act quick as it is no longer a featured flavor on the Malibu rum website.  In an interesting twist Malibu released Sunshine, a citrus flavored rum in 2012.  Malibu starts with molasses from the finest sugarcane and it is triple distilled at the West Indies Distillery in Barbados.  Natural flavors are added in Canada where it is bottled.
