Review: Effen Green Apple Vodka

Effen Green Apple Vodka - CopyEffen Green Apple Vodka is one of two new flavored vodka’s just released by Effen.  The previously reviewed Effen Blood Orange is the other flavor.  This is the forth new apple flavored vodka launched this year.  Three Olives Apples and Pears and Smirnoff Sourced Cranberry Apple vodka were also introduced in 2016.  While I’m not ready to select apple as the 2016 Best Tasting Spirits Flavor of the Year, it certainly appears to be the vodka flavor of the year.  Effen Green Apple starts with a vodka base crafted with premium wheat from Northern Holland.  After a low temperature continuous distillation in stainless steel columns the vodka is filtered five times through active carbon in a bottom up filtration process.  Pure spring water that has been filtered through reverse osmosis is blended with the vodka for several days to reduce to proof.  Natural flavor is infused before bottling at 75 proof in their trademark color coordinated polymer sleeved bottle. Review: 360 Red Delicious Apple Vodka

360 Red Delicious Apple Vodka - Copy360 Red Delicious Apple Vodka was just released by Earth Friendly Distilling Company, a division of McCormick Distilling of Weston Missouri.  It is one of twelve vodka varieties they currently produce with American grain that is distilled six times and filtered six times.  This is a change from previously reviewed 360 vodka’s that were distilled 4 times and filtered 5 times.  Natural flavor is infused before bottling at 70 proof.  The Red Delicious Apple was developed on a farm in Iowa in 1872.  By 1980 Red Delicious Apples accounted for 75% of the apple harvest in Washington State.  While that percentage is now closer to 30%, the Red Delicious Apple is still the most popular apple grown in Washington.  It will also be the prettiest apple sitting on the teachers desk.  Read more »

Review: Ivanabitch Dutch Apple Vodka

Ivanabitch Dutch apple - CopyIvanabitch Dutch Apple Vodka was introduced April 2013.  It is one of 14 vodka flavors they create in Holland with a vodka base made from the finest grain and the cleanest spring water.  Each batch is distilled five times and then triple filtered over active charcoal.  Apple flavor is then infused with the vodka before bottling at 70 proof. New Amsterdam Apple Vodka - Copy (2)New Amsterdam Apple Vodka was just released.  This joins eight other vodka varieties EJ Gallo creates in Modesto California under the New Amsterdam label.  Those include Citron, Coconut, Mango, Orange, Peach, Pineapple, Red Berry, and their unflavored original.  New Amsterdam Apple Vodka is made with the finest quality grains and is distilled 5 times and filtered 3 times.  Natural Apple flavors are then infused before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Three Olives Apples and Pears Vodka

Three Olives Apples and Pears - CopyThree Olives Apples and Pears Vodka will soon be released.  I was able to pick up a bottle a little early.  This is their 31st vodka variety.  Watch for my review of their 32nd tomorrow.  These are their first new flavors since last summers release of Peach, Pineapple, and Blueberry.  Three-O Apples and Pears Vodka is made with English winter wheat and demineralized water from Lake Vyrnmy.  It is quadruple distilled and triple filtered in England and shipped to Lawrenceburg Indiana where apple and pear flavors are infused before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Skyy Infusions Honeycrisp Apple Vodka

Skyy Infusions Honey Crisp Apple Vodka - CopySkyy Infusions Honeycrisp Apple Vodka was just released.  It is one of 18 Infusion flavors currently in the Skyy product line.  The Honeycrisp Apple was developed at the University of Minnesota in 1960 and released in 1991.  In a short period of time Honeycrisp Apples have become one of the top ten selling apple varieties in the US.  Skyy starts with Midwestern grown wheat that is quadruple distilled in Pekin Illinois.  Upon its arrival in San Jose California the vodka is blended with water filtered through reverse osmosis and then triple filtered through California limestone.  The vodka is infused with Honeycrisp Apple and other natural flavors and bottled at 70 proof. Review: Smirnoff Sourced Cranberry Apple Vodka

Smirnoff Sourced Cranberry Apple Vodka was just released.  It is one of three vodka flavors Diageo has introduced in their Smirnoff Sourced line of flavored vodka.  The other two flavors include Pineapple, and Ruby Red Grapefruit.  Each flavor is made with 10% real fruit juice from concentrate, bottled at 60 proof, with certified colors, and no high fructose corn syrup.  The Cranberry Apple flavor also has Elderberry extract added.  Smirnoff Sourced is gluten free, leading me to believe the vodka base is distilled from corn.  I will update this post when more information is available. Review: Burnetts Apple Berry Vodka

Burnetts Apple Berry Vodka - CopyBurnetts Apple Berry Vodka was introduced along with a Cherry Limeade flavor April 2015.  Burnetts Vodka is now the 12th largest selling distilled spirit brand in the US.  Apple Berry is one of 36 flavored vodkas produced in Bardstown Kentucky by Heaven Hill under the Burnetts label.  It is made with 100% grain that is quadruple distilled and triple charcoal filtered.  Apple and berry flavors are then added. Review: Ciroc Apple Vodka

Ciroc Apple Vodka - Copy (2)Ciroc Apple Vodka was just released.  The Ciroc line of vodka was first introduced by Diageo in the US in 2003.  In 2007 they partnered with Sean Diddy Combs.  He is responsible for marketing and promotion of the brand in the US in a partnership where profits are equally split.  Apple is their seventh variety.  It is crafted in Southern France from the juice of Ugni Blanc Grapes that are distilled four times in a stainless steel column still, and the juice from Mauzac Blanc grapes that are distilled once in a copper continuous still.  Once distilled they are blended together and distilled a final time in a copper pot still.  Apple and other natural flavors are infused before bottling at 70 proof.   Read more »

Review: Van Gogh Wild Appel Vodka

Van Gogh Wild Appel - CopyVan Gogh Wild Appel vodka was the first apple flavored vodka when it was introduced in 2002.  Appel is the Dutch spelling of apple, not the result of my over sampling.  Van Gogh starts with a blend of wheat, corn, and barley that is double distilled in small batches in a column still, and then distilled again in a pot still.  Purified water is blended to reduce to the proper proof level.  Ripe green apples organically grown in Holland’s uncultivated orchards are double infused for six weeks before bottling at 70 proof.  The image on the bottle is that of Vincent Van Gogh’s, The Apple Workers.
