Review: Absolut Lime Vodka

Absolut Lime Vodka was just released.  If you don’t count their limited edition Chicago Vodka made with Olive and Rosemary flavor, or Absolut Texas made with cucumber and Serrano chili flavor, this is their first new vodka flavor since they launched Absolut Cilantro in 2013.  Lime is one of 18 flavored vodka’s currently featured on the Absolut Vodka website.  Later this year that number will shrink to 10, as Absolut plans to focus on its core flavors.  Absolut Citron and Absolut Mandrin are the industries number one selling citrus and orange flavored vodkas, so it makes sense to add a flavor that plays to their strength.  A Vodka tonic with a squeeze of lime is said to be the worlds second most popular cocktail, so look for Absolut Lime to be an instant hit.  Absolut Lime starts with a vodka base made from Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farms, with one kilo of wheat needed to create one liter of vodka.  The wheat is milled on site and blended with water and a proprietary yeast and fermented for 2 days.  A continuous distillation process is used with steel column stills and copper plates.  The vodka is filtered once through a mesh filter.  Pure deep well water that comes from naturally filtered aquifers is softened through reverse osmosis and then blended with the vodka to reduce to proof.  All natural flavors are then infused with no sugar added before bottling at 80 proof. Review: Absolut Citron Vodka

Review: Absolut Hibiskus Vodka

Review: Absolut Vodka

absolut vodka - CopyAbsolut vodka was launched in New York in 1979.  It is crafted with Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farmers and pure deep well water from naturally filtered aquifers in Ahus Sweden.  A dry yeast culture is added and the mix is fermented for over 50 hours in 600,000 liter tanks.  A continuous distillation process is used followed by rectification, a method of removing unwanted by-products.  The spirit passes through a number of column stills, each designed to remove a different set of impurities.  One column extracts unpleasant tasting solvent compounds, another fusel oils, a third methanol, and a fourth concentrates the spirit.  No filtration is needed.  Pure well water further filtered through reverse osmosis is added before bottling at 80 proof. Review: Absolut Mango Vodka

Review: Absolut Pears Vodka

absolut pears vodka pic - CopyAbsolut Pears vodka was introduced in 2007.  It is one of twenty flavored vodka’s Absolut creates in Ahus Sweden for the US market.  They start with Swedish winter wheat and pure deep well water.  A continuous distillation process is used before Anjou pears and all natural ingredients are added.  Anjou Pears are native to Belgium or France.  They are the second most popular pear in the US and they are commonly used in salads and pastries as they are more firm than Bartlett pears, which are commonly canned or eaten fresh.    Read more »

Review: Absolut Cherrykran Vodka

absolut cherrykran - CopyAbsolut Cherrykran vodka was introduced May 2012.  It is one of twenty flavored vodkas Absolut creates in Ahus Sweden for the US market.  Cherrykran is made with Swedish winter wheat and pure deep well water.  A continuous distillation process is used before all natural sun-ripe cherries, fresh white cranberry and sweet plum flavor is added.  White cranberries are the same berry as the red cranberry, they are just picked a few weeks early.  They are less tart and have not turned red yet.  No sugar or preservatives are added before bottling at 80 proof.  Read more »

Review: Absolut Berri Acai Vodka

absolut berri acai vodka - CopyAbsolut Berri Acai vodka was introduced February 2010.  Their limited edition Los Angeles flavor was the inspiration for this flavor.  Los Angeles was Absolut’s second US cities flavor and it was introduced in 2008.  LA featured the same flavors plus acerolo, a cherry native to South America that Berri Acai doesn’t have.  It is one of twenty flavored vodkas Absolut creates for the US market in Ahus Sweden.  Berri Acai is made with Swedish winter wheat and pure deep well water.  A continuous distillation process is used before all natural acai, blueberry, and pomegranate is infused.  No sugar is added before bottling at 80 proof.
