Review: Koloa Kauai Gold Rum

Koloa Kauai Gold is one of 8 rum varieties crafted by Koloa Rum Company in Kalaheo Kauai.  The others include Kauai White, Dark, Spice, Coconut, Coffee, Cacao, & Reserve 12 Barrel Select Aged Hawaiian Rum.  The first batch of Koloa Kauai Rum was distilled in 2009.  Hawaii’s first sugar plantation was established on Kauai in 1835 in Koloa Town.  Koloa Kauai Gold Rum is crafted from pure Hawaiian Tall Cane sugar cane, and rainwater from Mount Wai Ale Ale.  The spirit is distilled twice in a vintage 1210 gallon copper pot still with a copper column & condenser made in Kentucky in 1947.  Caramelized sugar is blended for color before bottling unaged. Review: Kulu Organic Rum

Kulu Organic Rum is one of three rums crafted at Hawaii Sea Spirits on the island of Maui.  The others include Kula Dark Rum, and Kula Toasted Coconut Rum.  Until recently they were just available on the island of Hawaii.  The distillery also makes Ocean Organic Vodka.  Kula is made from organic sugar cane grown on the 80 acres surrounding the distillery.  Deep ocean mineral water sourced from 3000 feet below sea level is slow blended with the distilled rum to reduce to 80 proof. Review: Kuleana Rum Works HuiHui

Kuleana Rum Works HuiHui was launched by CEO and Co-Founder Steve Jefferson December 2018.   HuiHui is a Hawaiian term which translates to something that is mixed, mingled, united or pooled together.  HuiHui is one of three rums currently crafted at Kuleana Rum Works in Kohala Hawaii.  One of those rums is Nanea, a blend of aged rums from Guatemala, Guadeloupe, and El Salvador.  The other, Kuleana Rum Works Hawaiian Rum Agricole is made from fresh pressed sugarcane juice.  The juice is sourced from 40 varieties of sugarcane grown on their 45 acre farm and harvested by hand.  HuiHui is made from a blend of white rums including a light molasses based Papua New Guinea rum, their Hawaiian Rum Agricole and a rum Agricole distilled in Martinique.
