Review: Mulholland Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Mulholland Vodka was introduced November 2016 by Founder Matthew Alper and Walter Goggins.  Mulholland is named for William Mulholland who expanded the boundaries and possibilities of Los Angeles, by bringing water to the desert town.  Mulholland Vodka is 6 times distilled from 100% Non GMO corn in Missouri.  The spirit is sent to California where the raw spirit is proofed down slowly by blending in crystal clear water at their facility in Ukiah California.  The spirit is screened and double charcoal filtered before bottling at a healthy 86 proof.  Mulholland Distilling also produces Mulholland New World Gin and Mulholland American Whiskey.  The aroma of Mulholland Vodka leads with boiled corn.  Additional time brings out marshmallow and lemon notes.  The sugar sweet vanilla entry builds to a lemony peak.  It fades with marshmallow and Lemon Head candy, and finishes with mint, toasted marshmallow, anise, lemon peel, and pepper.
