Review: Casa Azul Tequila Blanco

by Jeff Ellingson

Casa Azul Tequila Blanco was launched by serial entrepreneur Lance Collins who partnered with Mexican Actress Eiza Gonzalez to release Casa Azul Tequila in the US March 29, 2023. Casa Azul translates to, “The Blue House”.  This follows the successful release of Casa Azul Tequila Soda.  Kansas City Chiefs All Pro Tight End Travis Kelsey is an investor in that brand.  Casa Azul Tequila is crafted at Tequila Las Americas with 100% organic agave grown on a single estate owned by the Montes family, third generation agave farmers turned distillers.  The hand selected agave is baked in stone ovens for 2-3 days.  The extracted juice is fermented with wild yeast in open top stainless steel tanks for 7-12 days and twice distilled in pot stills.  The spirit rests for 2 months in stainless steel tanks allowing it to aerate naturally prior to bottling.  The aroma leads with roasted earthy agave, citrus, and pepper.  The sweet clean and oily agave entry is joined by citrus building to an orange and agave peak.  It fades with herbal notes and finishes with orange, grapefruit peel, mineral, and black pepper.
