Review: Smirnoff Pink Lemonade Vodka

Smirnoff Pink Lemonade Vodka was just released.  It joins a Smirnoff flavor lineup that now numbers 28.  By my count this is the 6th pink lemonade flavored vodka on the market today.  The others include Svedka Strawberry Lemonade, New Amsterdam Pink Whitney, UV Pink Lemonade, Burnett’s Pink Lemonade, and Crown Valley Pink Lemonade.  Pinnacle and Sweet Carolina also produce a Lemonade flavored vodka.  Smirnoff Pink Lemonade is made from Smirnoff’s corn vodka base.  Natural flavors are infused and certified colors are blended before bottling at 60 proof.  Marketing material suggests that flavor infusion includes strawberry and raspberry flavor.  Each 1.5 Oz. serving weighs in with only 89 calories and 4.1 carb. Review: Ciroc Summer Citrus Vodka

Ciroc Summer Citrus Vodka was just released.  This is a limited release, and Ciroc’s third summer seasonal vodka flavor following Ciroc Summer Colada, and Ciroc Summer Watermelon.  It joins Ciroc’s flavored vodka lineup that currently includes Ciroc Peach, Mango, Apple, Pineapple, Red Berry, and Coconut.  The vodka base is made from a blend of Ugni Blanc and Mauzac Blanc grapes.  The juice is made into a wine.  The wine is distilled four times in stainless column stills by Master Distiller Jean-Sebastien Robicquet at his 500 year old family owned Maison Villevert Distillery.  A fifth distillation follows in a traditional custom copper pot still at Distillation de Chevanceaux in the South of France.  A blend of natural orange and citrus flavors are infused before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Deep Eddy Lime Vodka

Deep Eddy Lime Vodka is the newest of seven flavor varieties crafted by Deep Eddy from a vodka base made from the highest quality corn and spring water from deep aquifers in Texas Hill Country.  Deep Eddy is named for the oldest spring fed swimming pool in Austin Texas.  The vodka is small batch distilled 10 times on a state of the art column still, and gently filtered over charcoal 4 times.  Real lime juice is blended and the vodka is lightly sweetened with real cane sugar before bottling at 70 proof.  Deep Eddy was established in 2010 by Chad Auler founder of Savvy Vodka and Clayton Christopher founder of Sweet Leaf Tea Beverages.  In 2015 they sold Deep Eddy to Heaven Hill Brand for a figure that has been estimated to be between $165-300 million.  Not a bad 5 year return on their investment. Review: Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions Lemon & Elderflower Vodka

Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions Lemon & Elderflower Vodka was just released.  It is made from a 100% corn distilled vodka base.  Natural flavors and essence of real botanicals are infused before bottling at 60 proof.  This is the fourth flavor variety in the Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions family.  The others include Cucumber & Lime, Strawberry & Rose, and Watermelon & Mint.  Pour 1.5 oz. of Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions Lemon & Elderflower in an ice filled glass.  Top with club soda and garnish with a slice of lemon.  Weighing in with 72 calories this cocktail has 28% fewer calories than a serving of White Claw or Truly.    Read more »

Review: Grey Goose Essences Strawberry & Lemongrass

Grey Goose has just released Grey Goose Essences a new vodka infused with real fruit and botanical essences.  They join a growing list of 0 sugar 0 carb botanical infused vodkas that include the Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions, Ketel One Botanical, Svedka Pure Infusions, and Prairie Organic Sustainable Season brands.  Grey Goose Essences come in three varieties, Strawberry & Lemongrass, Watermelon & Basil, and White Peach & Rosemary.  Grey Goose Strawberry & Lemongrass starts with a vodka made from soft winter wheat grown on farms in Picardy, Northern France.  Little production information is available except that cold distilled lemongrass is noted on the bottle.  Cold Distillation is a process used by some in crafting gin.  Original Grey Goose Vodka is distilled once using a five column distillation process.  Pristine Gensac La Pallue Spring water naturally filtered through Champaign limestone in the Cognac Region of France is blended to reduce to proof.  The vodka is filtered through cellulose and carbon.  It would appear a similar process is used to craft their Essences line with the addition of cold distilled lemongrass, and a real fruit essence infusion. Review: Svedka Pure Infusions Ginger Lime Vodka

Svedka Ginger Lime is one of three, zero sugar natural fruit infused vodka flavors in their Pure Infusions line of vodka.  Dragonfruit Melon, and Strawberry Guava are the other two.  Each starts with a vodka base made from Swedish Winter Wheat and pure ice cold Swedish spring water.  It is distilled five times in a continuous distillation process.  The spirit is run through high performance purification columns five times to remove impurities.  Natural flavors are infused before bottling at 60 proof. Review: New Amsterdam Watermelon Vodka

New Amsterdam Watermelon is one of 11 flavored vodkas produced by New Amsterdam.  The other flavors include Raspberry, Apple, Pineapple, Orange, Coconut, Red Berry, Mango, Lemon, Grapefruit, and Peach.  Each flavor starts with a vodka base made from the finest corn distilled five times and filtered three times.  Watermelon and other natural flavors are infused before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Rosa Vodka

Rosa Vodka was recently released.  This should not be confused with the many Rose wine flavored spirits on the market today.  Rosa is a natural rose water flavored vodka owned and produced by Manamira LLC, a female owned company based in California.  The vodka base is distilled in Portland Oregon from a premium blend of organic corn and the finest Cascade Mountain Spring water filtered for three days in a specialized filtration of limestone and charcoal.  Bulgarian Damascena Rose essence are infused before bottling at 80 proof.  Bulgarian Damascena Roses were brought to Bulgaria by the Ottoman Turks.  The roses are grown for oil production and harvested only six weeks in the spring for the freshest and most vibrant flavors and aromas. Review: Prairie Organic Watermelon Cucumber & Lime Vodka

Prairie Organic Watermelon Cucumber & Lime Vodka was just introduced.   It is one of three organic botanical infused vodka’s released by Prairie Organic Spirits.  Prairie Organic Spirits was founded 2008 by Phillips Distilling Company.  Phillips creates dozens of spirits including UV Vodka, Revel Stoke Whiskey, Centinela Tequila and, La Hechicera Rum.  Prairie Organic Spirits are farm crafted and made using single sourced vintage corn grown on family owned organic farms in the Midwest.  Each batch is distilled to taste in small batches.  Organic Watermelon, Cucumber, & Lime are infused in the vodka base before bottling at 60 proof.  Prairie Organic Spirits recently partnered with 1% for the planet, a non-profit that’s pioneering a global movement for providing environmental solutions.  Read more »

Review: Prairie Organic Grapefruit Hibiscus & Chamomile Vodka

Prairie Organic Grapefruit Hibiscus & Chamomile Vodka is one of three organic zero sugar, flavor infused vodkas in Prairie Organics new Sustainable Seasons line of spirits.  The other two flavors are the previously reviewed Apple Pear & Ginger, and Watermelon Cucumber & Lime.  Prairie Organic Spirits was founded in 2008 and they currently also craft Prairie Organic Vodka, Prairie Organic Cucumber Vodka, Prairie Organic Gin, Prairie Organic Navy Strength Gin, and Prairie Organic Sparkling Craft Cocktails.  Everything is produced using 100% renewable energy.  Launched in 2019 The Spirit of Change Fund champions the next generation of organic farmers by helping more farmers go organic.  Prairie Organic donates 1% of sales to support this fund.  Prairie Organic Grapefruit Hibiscus & Chamomile is made from a single sourced vintage corn grown on family owned organic Midwest farms.  The harvested organic corn is brought to a farmer owned co-op where it is ground up and put into a mash where it ferments before being transported to Princeton Minnesota where it is distilled to taste.  Organic grapefruit hibiscus and chamomile are infused before bottling at 60 proof.  Read more »
