Review: Svedka Citron Vodka 75 Proof
Svedka Citron vodka was introduced in 2005. At the time it was bottled at 75 proof. It is currently bottled at 70 proof. As my regular readers know I built a collection of over 600 spirits before I launched Best Tasting Spirits. My goal was to post a new review every day for at least the first two years. Because I waited I now have a bottle of the old and new Svedka Citron. After tasting both there appears to be more then just a difference in alcohol content, so I will review each of them. This review is for the 75 proof version. Four pounds of Swedish winter wheat is needed to craft each 750ml bottle. A continuous distillation process is used prior to the vodka is run through high performance purification columns five separate times to remove impurities. Ice cold water from Swedish springs is then blended with the vodka before natural citrus flavor is infused. Read more
Review: Amate Silver Tequila
Amate Silver tequila was introduced in 1997. It was created by Juan Carlos Jimenez Ahedo and Carlos Monsalve Agraz. Both personally taste and approve every batch. It is made with 100% Blue agave that is slow cooked in brick ovens. The pinas are shredded and rolled to extract the agave juice. After a natural aerobic fermentation the tequila is double distilled and bottled immediately after. Read more
Review: Rock Town Blackberry Cobbler Arkansas Lightning
Rock Town Blackberry Cobbler Arkansas Lightning was introduced September 2013 along with a peach and grape flavor. They join their previously released red hot, and apple pie flavors. It is crafted in Little Rock Arkansas at the Rock Town Distillery. Rock Town was the first legal distillery in Arkansas since prohibition. They also craft vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey. RT Blackberry Cobbler is pot distilled from Arkansas corn in a copper pot still. It is then blended with all natural blackberry and spices before bottling at 40 proof. Read more
Review: Sammys Beach Bar Rum
Sammys Beach Bar Rum was launched in Hawaii in 2011 and nationally 2012. It is a collaboration between Sammy Hagar and Mark Nigbur, the master distiller at the Haliimaile Distillery in Maui Hawaii. This is the distillery that creates Pau Maui vodka. It is crafted with Hawaiian grown sugar cane, not molasses like most rums use. The canes are harvested and then gently pressed near the distillery. The pressing extracts the first press sugar cane juice. The juice is fermented for five days. The master distiller hand distills the mash once in small batches using handmade pot stills. Sammy does not provide any information as to how long their rum is aged. Read more

Bonnie Rose Orange Peel Tennessee White Whiskey was introduced along with a Spiced Apple flavor April 2015. It is made from orange peel both cold pressed and distilled. The whiskey is distilled in copper pot stills using their own proprietary mash with 80% white corn. It is bottled at 70 proof in Auburndale Florida. Read more
Review: American Harvest Organic Vodka
American Harvest Organic vodka was introduced in 2011 by the company behind Grey Goose Vodka, Sidney Frank. While Sidney Frank himself died in 2006, his company lives on. After selling Grey Goose to Bacardi in 2004 for $2.3 Billion and waiting out a non compete clause, they are back in the vodka business. It is crafted in small batches with organic wheat that is grown on a family owned farm in Idaho. A four column continuous distillation process is used. The spirit is blended with water from aquifers deep beneath the Snake River plain and a proprietary mixture of organic ingredients. A four step charcoal filtration process follows before it is hand bottled at 80 proof. Read more
