Review: Bribon Blanco Tequila

Bribon Blanco Tequila was created by Palm Bay International in partnership with Casa Don Roberto. This family has been making tequila since 1840 and opened this distillery in 1924.  They currently also produce Don Roberto, Huizache, and the 88 Tequila brands.  In Mexico a Bribon was a wildly charismatic and courageous man about town.  Bribon Blanco Tequila is made from 100% Blue agave grown for 7-10 years and harvested by hand.  Once harvested the agaves are taken to the distillery where they are cooked for 18 hours at 100 degrees Celsius and then shredded.  The juice is fermented in tanks at a consistent 32 degrees Celsius using a proprietary yeast developed by Don Roberto.  The tequila is double distilled utilizing a process that combines pot still distillate with column still distillate. Review: Dos Lunas Silver Tequila

dos-lunas-silver-copyDos Lunas Silver Tequila was launched in 2006.  Dos Lunas tequila was inspired by a New Years Eve 2005 visit to a bar in Telluride Colorado.  While there brand founder Richard Poe witnessed several people cringe after tasting tequila.  He had the idea to create a smoother better tasting tequila.  Dos Lunas Silver is made from 100% Weber Blue Agave individually selected for harvest by their Master Agronomist from fields that are herbicide and pesticide free.  Dos Lunas Silver is now triple distilled and cold filtered.  At launch it was double distilled. Review: DeLeon Platinum Tequila

Deleon Platinum Tequila Image - CopyDeleon Platinum Tequila was introduced November 2014.  The Deleon Tequila brand was initially launched in 2009 by Brent Hocking and it featured an Ultra Premium line of tequila ranging from $150-850 per bottle.  In December 2013 Deleon was sold to Diageo and Sean Diddy Combs in a 50-50 partnership.  The two had already worked together to build Ciroc Vodka.  The brand has been completely rebuilt with the bottle and name about the only thing remaining.  Even the distillery has changed.  Platinum is one of six tequila expressions Deleon now creates with hand selected 100% Blue Weber agave.  The agave is slow roasted in traditional clay ovens and slowly fermented.  Platinum is twice distilled with the beginning and end of each distillation cut by the master distiller, allowing only the Corazon, or heart to find its way into every fragrance grade glass bottle of Deleon.
