Review: Three Olives Cake Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Three Olives Birthday CakeThree Olives Cake vodka was introduced in 2011.  It is one of 24 flavors Three-O creates in England.  It is distilled in England with English winter wheat and water from Lake Vyrnmy in Wales.  It is quadruple distilled and triple filtered through charcoal.    Artificial flavors are added in Lawrenceburg Indiana where it is bottled at 35% alcohol.  In the bottle the aroma is cake and frosting.  Poured in my glass I pick up notes of vanilla and alcohol.  The flavor is vanilla buttercream and cake with a full vodka finish.  In my mouth the vodka feels a little oily and while the cake taste is good the finish is a little rough.  The overall taste of Three Olives Cake may be a little sweeter than other cake flavored vodka’s, but more concerning is the vodka finish I find a little strong and a little bitter.
