Review: Piehole Apple Pie Canadian Whiskey

Piehole Apple Pie Canadian whiskey is one of three pie flavored whiskeys, Diageo just introduced under the Piehole label.  While this is the first apple pie flavored whiskey, there are several apple flavored whiskeys already available.  Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Crown Royal, and Paddy are some of the heavyweights already in this space.  Apple pie is also one of the most popular flavors of moonshine, and   Pearl and Oddka both make an apple pie flavored vodka.  Even with the marketing might of Diageo this might be a little hard to find initially.  Piehole Apple Pie is made with Canadian Whiskey and an apple pie flavored liqueur.The aroma is fresh apple and cinnamon with a hint of brown sugar.  The apple cider flavored entry builds to a cinnamon apple pastry peak.  It fades with sweet cinnamon apple liqueur taste, and a mild mouth warming, followed by some spice and a mild burn as I swallow.  The finish is long and 100% apple pie.  While there was very little whiskey flavor I felt an alcohol presence on the finish.  I can’t help but feel if flavored vodka was as hot as flavored whiskey is, Diageo would have introduced this brand as Piehole Apple Pie Vodka.  I’m also convinced the flavor would be very similar.
