Review: Jeremiah Weed Sarsaparilla Whiskey

by Jeff Ellingson

jeremiah weed sarsaparilla whiskey - CopyJeremiah Weed Sarsaparilla Whiskey was introduced November 2014 along with a Cinnamon, and a Spiced Whiskey flavor.  The Jeremiah Weed Brand is probably best known for it’s line of sweet tea flavored vodka’s.  It is made with American blended whiskey, with spices, and other natural flavors and it is bottled at a mysterious 70.4 proof.  Sarsaparilla was once popular as a medicinal tonic.  My guess is the bottle and labeling were very similar to what Jeremiah Weed looks like today.  Sarsaparilla root is one of the main flavor ingredients in root beer.  The aroma is root beer, vanilla, and cream with a hint of caramel and whiskey.  The feel in my mouth is sweet, with no heat.  The initial sweet root beer flavor has a whiskey backing.  Vanilla flavor joins in and builds to a sweet creamy vanilla bean peak.  It fades with a little heat and spice before a caramel and whiskey flavored finish.  Shot this, mix this, or drink it on the rocks.  If you drink your whiskey with a splash of Coke, give this a try.
