Review: Baileys Strawberries and Cream

by Jeff Ellingson

Baileys Strawberries and Cream is a seasonal Limited Edison liqueur that will be available February-April or until supply lasts.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle a little early.  This is their second seasonal flavor following Baileys Pumpkin Spice.  While no ingredients are listed on the bottle, Baileys Original Irish Cream is made with aged Irish whiskey, grain spirits, fresh dairy cream, and a unique chocolate blend.  This bottle reads Baileys Strawberries and Cream is infused with a delightful ripe strawberry flavor and the taste of delicious vanilla. It pours to a strawberry milk color.  The aroma is strawberry jam and vanilla milkshake with a subtle whiskey backing.  The strawberry ice cream entry has a creamy mouth feel.  The strawberry builds to a tart frozen strawberry at its peak, balanced by fresh dairy cream giving this a strawberry yogurt taste.  The whiskey flavor also builds from its subtle presence at the opening to an equal partner with cream and strawberry at the midpoint.  The whiskey provides some warmth on the fade but not enough to distract when served over ice.
