Review: Ciroc Summer Colada Vodka

Ciroc Summer Colada Vodka is a limited edition vodka available in very limited quantities at liquor stores and top hotspots nationwide.  It joins a flavored vodka lineup that includes Amaretto, Apple, Coconut, Mango, Peach, Pineapple, and Red Berry.  The vodka base for each of these flavors comes from a blend of Ugni Blanc and Mauzac Blanc grapes.  The juice is made into a wine.  The wine is distilled four times in stainless column stills by Master Distiller Jean-Sebastien Robicquet at his 500 year old family owned Maison Villevert Distillery.  A fifth distillation follows in a traditional custom copper pot still at Distillerie de Chevanceaux in the South of France.  Coconut, Pineapple, and other natural flavors are infused before bottling at 70 proof in an all white bottle.  The Ciroc brand was first launched in 2003, but it wasn’t until Diageo partnered with Sean Combs in 2007 that the brands blew up.  Combs is responsible for managing all Ciroc lifestyle branding and marketing initiatives. Review: Svedka Colada Vodka

Svedka Colada - CopySvedka Colada Vodka was introduced July 2012.  It was their seventh flavor at the time, and it was bottled at 75 proof.  Svedka now produces 12 flavors and their Colada flavor is bottled at 70 proof.  This review is for their 75 proof Colada.  I have yet to find their 70 proof Colada.  Each 750ml bottle is made with four pounds of Swedish winter wheat.  A continuous distillation process is used before the vodka is run through high performance purification columns five separate times to remove impurities.  Ice cold water from Swedish springs is then blended with the vodka before natural coconut, mango, and pineapple flavor is infused.  With this ingredient list, and the name on the bottle there is no doubt a Pina Colada is the inspiration for this vodka, but since it is made with vodka instead or rum a more appropriate name would be Chi-Chi. Review: Ballast Point Fugu Pina Vodka

fugu pina - CopyBallast Point Fugu Pina vodka is one of five vodka flavors they create in San Diego.  If the Ballast Point name sounds familiar you may have enjoyed some of the beer they brew, and started the company with.  Ballast Point was inspired by the flavors from the neighborhood taco shops.  Those flavors include spicy habanero peppers, creamy horchata. aquas fracas with sweet Jamaica Hibiscus, and juice pineapple.   They start by distilling malted barley.  It is then filtered 15 times before passing through a proprietary diamond blending vortex, blending the vodka with water purified through reverse osmosis.  Natural pineapple flavor is then infused before bottling at 80 proof. Review: Ciroc Pineapple Vodka

ciroc pineapple vodka - CopyCiroc Pineapple vodka was just released and I for one have been anxiously awaiting it’s arrival since Diddy first announced Ciroc’s sixth and newest flavor back in July.  It is crafted in Southern France from the juice of Ugni Blanc grapes that are distilled four times in a stainless steel column still and the juice from Mauzac Blanc grapes that are distilled once in a copper continuous still.  Once distilled they are blended together and distilled a final time in a copper pot still.  Natural flavors including pineapple are infused before bottling at 70 proof in their trademark bottle featuring a yellow round ball, the color of pineapple.  It looks great in my bar next to the other 5 Ciroc flavors.  Let’s see if it tastes as good as it looks.
